The blessed document verification process by Vodafone has left my caller id service deactivated and my outgoing calls barred. Anyone else facing the same?
Many of my friends are facing the same issue as they didn't submit the required documents.

I'm With Vodafone, for SAME NUMBER, in last 5 yrs I submitted documents for 3 times but still I'm sure this time too I may got call form them to submit proofs again, what an insane strategy. But at same time in Vodafone Gallery they openly declaring that to avoid such hassle again turn from Prepaid to Post Paid, what a SHAMEFUL people.

Oh. Actually one day, even my caller id was blocked, but I called customer care and told them when and where I submitted the documents. After few hours everything was unblocked! :)

What are the CC guys saying?

^^ Yeah, they conveniently fail to connect you through to a CS rep, when you call them.

E-mails call for no responses whatsoever.

"It has been decided that permission to launch commercial service in any area with effect from September 1, 2010 shall be given to only those licensee(s) who are MNP compliant," said a DoT note.

Doubt it will be implemented, There is no such info from the operators itself except bsnl and mtnl saying that they are ready.

Whereas the whole media is flooded with ads of operators providing 3G during diwali.

Even I faced the submit identity proof problem and because I didn't comply, they blocked my caller id service lol. But mine got fixed within a day ....

I submitted fresh documents on Monday evening and it got fixed by Tuesday afternoon.

Everyone says they are ready whereas the fact is that nobody is completely ready. Regardless of that, the operators are moving towards a launch under pressure from the DoT. The first circle will launch in the last week of November for sure. Remaining may take longer depending on the experience.

I hope this time atleast it is true as I really want to change my service from Docomo to Reliance as 3G gets rolled out in Mumbai.

^ Ideally speaking ANY mobile number should be portable. So really your provider doesn't matter, it's just the number. That's how it happens in the rest of the world atleast. MNP combined with removal of roaming charges would sweep in an era where people would actually continue to hold on to their numbers instead of sending out bulk SMS every quarter stating "Hi, this is my new number - XYZ". Ab kitni baar update karein!

Thanks a bunch! Finally got hold of a CS rep last night and conveyed the above details.
Checked today, to find that my services have been restored. :)

Cheers!

Will we able to change CDMA numbers to GSM ones? Like from Reliance CDMA to Airtel?
According some news reports, people can change from GSM to CDMA (if your mobile permits) or change between GSM and CDMA with in the same service provider, like changing from Tata Indicom to Tata Docomo.

But it doesn't make sense, if i change from cdma to gsm of same provider, and after that change from gsm to gsm of different provider, you can get around the rule. ;)

I have been waiting for more than a year for this to happen. Would love to ditch Vodafone. VF sucks big time. I remember the glory old days of Hutch. *sigh*
