Online Sites Delivering to India and Related Issues

Does iShop international provide a duty receipt? If no, what is the reason behind them not providing one when they claim they've been charged?

But to purchase a product in uk i need to have a uk billing address
Is there any way i could get a uk billing address

That is what SNS will give you. UK shipping (not billing address). But i guess you can use that very shipping address as billing as well. Can you ? I am not sure.
May be someone here who has used SNS for buying from UK can help.

Hi, I'm tempted to buy a few books from over yonder & abebooks.com seems to have the most reasonable shipping rates. Anyone have any prior experience in this regard? Customs, reliability, workarounds to lessen shipping cost etc.? Any other sites with a large library of used books but reasonable shipping? Thanks!

Edit: Seems Infibeam offers this service?! Any idea how reliable it is?

Just a word of caution, Please stay away from SNS at all costs. They are a bunch of unprofessional, irresponsible fools who has no inkling on what customer service even means.

Go with PPOBOX, on comparison they are angels.

Didn't see this earlier. Ordered just two modems and had to pay 3 times more than the modem costs itself. Turns out if the items are small then PPOBox is cheaper. And if the items are big then Hopshopgo. Will keep that in mind next time.[DOUBLEPOST=1405330969][/DOUBLEPOST]PPOBox too provide with a US,UK and China shipping address.

Bad experience with Hopshopgo. My mistake I didn't do a through investigation. They charged me Rs.718 for custom and handling charges on arrival of the modems. They didn't pack two small modems in a single pack, although I ordered them together. So, 800 bucks for the two modems and then Rs.1363 for shipping + 718 for custom and handling = 2881(approx) EXPENSIVE! Ppobox was charging just 800 bucks including everything. :(

Anyone have any idea about why linking a Union Bank of India credit card or HDFC debit card to Paypal could fail? Is there any policy restriction on either end? I was able to use my card 2-3 months back for an international payment directly. Yet Paypal won't play nice.
Spoke to UBI cc & was informed that there is no issue at their end. Have emailed paypal & am awaiting their reply.

To answer my own question, tried both abebooks as well as infibeam. Was smooth sailing on both counts. With the former, had to pay Rs. 30 to the postman towards some customs/import fee (?). With the latter, no additional cost. Super happy with the purchase.

3 other sites which imo have reasonable shipping costs are thriftbooks, awesomebooks, & worldofbooks (all .coms). $5, 3GBP per order & 2 GBP respectively. But no personal experience yet.

@kidrow HDFC has recently changed their policy and by default they have restricted their debit card purchase on international sites as well as paypal. I had to call the Phone banking to activate my HDFC debit card for international purchase. Can't say about UBI but public sector bank cards don't allow international purchase normally (SBI said they need to issue a different 'international card' for such transactions.

@kidrow just checked the price on newegg, it's 33K in rupees so there is no catch, UAE price is what it really costs in that country. That's the real price outside India. We Indians are suckers will buy anyhow. :p

EDIT: Check the warranty, it says '1 Year Souq Warranty'. Alshop's 'service warranty' is unclear what it means.

Hmm... Seems to be a grey market product then. Any idea what's the scenario here in India for a grey market G3? Thanks.
