Not to Bangkok with your lady as Kranthi has pointed it out. It's ideal for bachelors. :ashamed:

You missed a couple of things.. The Grand Canyon? The Gold Coast?? and most importantly... THE MOON?? :P
Yeah, seems like he has covered the entire planet otherwise.

maldives , nothing else to do other than beach , food and talk to the other person .... most of the other places would mean to go around sightseeing , dont think you want to do that during your "special" trip :P

Ok guys so yes no bachelor preference places please...it is supposed to be a Honeymoon trip :P

So which would be the best if planned properly, say for like 6-7 days and how do i ensure i get deals on airline tickets, hotels etc. Preference is Asian countries only as i am no Tata Birla to afford Swiss / Europe tours :ashamed:

I need to know some reliable websites where we can plan international holidays (especially Honeymoon packages :P :ashamed:). I am searching on makemytrip currently but need other options.
Isn't diet your major problem ? As it is you were struggling to get fed in China, Europe might be worse :fear:

Who wants to eat pasta on their honeymoon, everyday!

This limits your options quite a bit.

Stay domestic, Agra, Rajasthan or Kerela or failing that...go to Bali :)

One thing is clear you want to book as much in advance as possible as end Dec is peak period in many places, prices could be 100% or more than otherwise. If you DO plan it in advance, making any changes later on will be expensive as well.

There are provided you go to a place with a sizeable Indian population -- england for instance, elsewhere the options are limited, overpriced and not upto the mark as nobody knows any better. If you know ppl in differnet places try & get their perspective keeping your dietary requirements in mind.

HK does have some Indian restaurants - but expensive. For instance, 2 aloo parathas and a cup of dahi costs ~500 INR. In any case, most package trips also offer a complimentary breakfast. Since the trip is for a week, you can consider some packets of Maggi as most hotel rooms will have an electric kettle.

I'd suggest Singapore + Malaysia or HK. Either way, you have plenty of destinations to go on either of the places. :)

PS: Are you a veggie?

I think Thailand is way underrated and gets a bad name for nothing. I went to Thailand for my honeymoon and it was amazing. We spent 6 days in Krabi which has some of the best beaches (just type Phi Phi Islands and you'll know what I am talking about) in the world and 3 days of shopping in Bangkok and believe me, wifey loved it (especially the shopping ;) ). You can even look at Koh Samui or Chiang Mai as good, relaxing holiday destinations. The advantage with Thailand is that you get very good value for money. The hotels we stayed in during our honeymoon were 5 star rated had all the amenities and luxuries at a fraction of the cost in India. For e.g. the resort we stayed in Krabi costed us about USD350/night but believe me a similar room in any Indian hotel or resort would not cost you less than Rs.30 - 35k. Similarly for Bangkok, we stayed at The Holiday Inn, Silom and it costed us USD75 a night. And they have some of the best hotel staff in the world, too courteous and very polite unlike their more "refined" brethren in Europe and the US. In fact I feel they easily outshine Indian hospitality in some respects. Bangkok is a very nice city to visit if people actually take time out to see it. And it has some of the best shopping in the world, a fact your wife would appreciate (trust me on this). Trouble is, most people go there with a single agenda and rarely spend time on anything else ;). Also, you would not have a problem with food in Thailand as plenty of good quality decently priced Indian restaurants are available everywhere.

You have to avoid places like Phuket or Pattaya and certain places in Bangkok where the things Thailand is more famous for are right in your face. If you manage that, I feel Thailand is one of the most beautiful country in the world with amazing beaches and even amazing people and hospitality.

On the Travel agent vs self part. My suggestion is book your hotels & your flights through the travel agent but book your tours and taxis and other things once you get to the destination. You'll have a chance to shop around and get better deals due to local competition for business. And Thailand is a pretty safe country and they generally do not bother tourists so you hv no worries on that front.

raks i have a better suggestion , why dont you your better half and you sit and read and decide a place ,will make the whole 6 months more exciting and a picture of things to come :P

^^^

Isnt Phuket in the popular place list? that is some kinda small island or something r8?

Pattaya is best avoided. This coastal city has more red light districts (known by massage centres) than anywhere in the country. :|

You can even look at Air Asia for flights. Its starting operations from all major cities from Aug 4th. And for hotels you can check out asiarooms.com

Usually Thailand would always be top of the list but they've had some domestic trouble there recently. Yet another coup to add to the 18 or so they've had in the past. Not sure how things will be 6 months from now there or even how bad it is right now. Tho i suppose this would be limited mostly to the capital and not elsewhere.

AFAIK, there was no coup this time and the red shirts retreated empty handed. Thakshin could not get anything out of it apart from one major inconvenience to all the stakeholders.

Then it's going to get harder - you may already know of it since you were in China. :)

Are you planning to splurge on gadgets or other electronic appliances? If no, you can consider Male as well.
