There is no point in pairing a 9k cpu and 7.8k mainboard with a 6.5k gpu.Neither 4770 nor 512 MB of video RAM is enough for 22" HD gaming.Having just 2GB of RAM is going to be a problem too.
You are spending a total of 24.5k on main components (cpu, gpu, ram, mainboard). For less than that(22k) you can get the following configuration which will be significantly faster:
CPU:Intel E7400 5.7k
Mainboard:GIGABYTE GA-P31-ES3G 2.9k
GPU:Palit GTX260C216 11.2k
RAM:2x2GB Transcend DDR2 800MHz 2.2k

certain observations: why do you need a quad core for a gaming PC

GPU - MSI 9800GT 512MB - 7500
LCD - BenQ T2200HD - 9800

Speakers - Altec Lansing X240 - 2400
Cabinet - Cooler Master 690 - 4500
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200.12 - 2700
Optical Drive- Samsung OctoEdge - 1100

Thanks guys for your suggestions, but apart from gaming theres going to be a bit of media editing, watching DVD movies, etc.... hence the quad core.

Also as per wht i have read,
If you run computer intensive programs, the more L2 Cache you have the better. If, however, you use your PC for gaming, streaming video or watching movies, the size of your L2 Cache is not as significant as having a speedy Front Side Bus and some juiced up Clock Speed.
if you’re building a media computer, having a 1333 MHz Front Side Bus that can handle HD video is wonderful—but make sure the CPU is adequate for the challenge.

also, where is E7400 available for 5.7 k? on itwares its 6050 (including tax)

Modern GPUs are more than capable of rendering and encoding HD videos.CPU hardly has any role to play in it.That is exactly what the whole concept of GPGPU is all about at present.

I would like to know whether 4 GB 800Mhz RAM will have good speed and performance for normal usage and long term use. I prefer to invest in a PC which I need not have to upgrade for next 10 years or so.

Zebronics Bijli cabinet is a forum favorite and is always suggested as best VFM cabinet. But it's mesh design may not appeal to everyone and causes lots of dust accumulation.

What are the alternatives in similar price range best suited for second config in this guide i.e General Purpose Multimedia + Occasional Gaming + Big NO to overclocking (Budget 25k) machine.

And among similar priced Zebronics realwatts 350W and CM extreme power 350W which one is better.

what will be the applications of that pc?

for variable application is will be a bad idea to spend all money in latest n the best hardware thinkin it will last forever...
instead get what u require now n keep upgrading whenever necessity arises... u will end up saving more n using fresh hardware.

Hi,

I am getting the following configuration 2nd hand from a seller.

Intel Quad Core QX6700 Extreme Edition 2.6Ghz overclocked to 3.0 Ghz (easily goes to 3.33 Ghz)
EVGA 680i MotherBoard
EVGA 260 GTX Super Clocked Edition(896 MB)
GSkill 4 GB DDR2 1066 Mhz
Tuniq Tower T120
870 GB HDD
750 W Cooler Master Power Supply Unit
Sony DVD Writer
Antec 900 Gamer Cabinet

Can you please tell me the total market cost of the current configuration new? I know some components are old and probbaly not available like the proccy and mobo. A ballpark figure for them would be gr8

Thanks a lot for your help guys

What happened to the 4770's in the recommendations..
it is nearly equal to the gts 250 right and 1k cheaper too

The Dell s1909w is one crap shit monitor with just 1366x768 resolution right..
wont it be better with an e1909w with 1440x900 resolution..
The 1k that u save with a 4770 can go to having a better monitor..
my friend just made the same mistake of buying the s1909w.. now hw wants an e1909w....
The 1366x'768'resolution is cheap... its like a stretched 15' lcd.. low height.. very less detailing in games... atleast some detailing is more with a 1440x'900'..
please enlighten me with some info...
