If this 6 core proccy gives gaming performance numbers upto i7 920 & matches is price, I will buy it just for the heck of it. 6 cores, wow! I don't know why/if I need that but I want to jump onto AMD wagon soon.

^^^Multithreading is a farce. It improves your performance marginally.

6 cores are more than enough.

True cores are 100 times better than pseudo HT cores.

Or do you want to see 12 logical CPUs in your task manager for kicks? :)

is it for real???
core i7 for 179$
i just bought a phenom 965 and msi790fx
and after seeing this i feel like punching my self.

Any idea how many softwares or games use all the 4 cores leave alone 6 cores even after several years of release ?

There is plenty of software that are well optimized for 6 cores, just not games.

Waiting for it to reflect in newegg too
won't... this happens only at MicroCentre oddly

Neways, about BULLDOZER:-

It's gonna follow SMT, or Simultaneous Multiple Threading. AMD have reported that this feature increases performance by 90-95% with a mere 5% increase in die size compared to a real core, whereas HT is the old P4 thingy, and the avg gains u see are 15% only..

Definitely getting an X6 or something that can get unlocked to X6. Really happy I didn't get a new PC already.

i read somewhere that new southbridge sb810 from AMD does not support unlocking of cores. only asus variant supports that as of now.
and with a new bios update 790fx will give full compatiblity to phenom x6. so i think 790 is still the best to go with.

Officially yes ! 8 series has no ACC option that lets you unlock cores on the capable dies. But that doesn't stop vendors to introduce unlocking feature in their Mbs, Asus and Foxconn has some features in them. Gigabyte and MSI will follow the trail soon or might have got something already ;)

does the X6 have multithreading or will it be only on the upcoming bulldozers ?

No multithreading as of now. AMD has plans for some SMT features for Bulldozer, Zambezi hopefully .

The guys at ati-forum.de have spotted new AMD six-core listings at Norwegian retailer/e-tailer Microplex that show the new AMD Phenom II X6 1055T and 1090T listed for 1595 and 2295 Norwegian krones. Unfortunately, Microplex is not sure about the delivery date, but has listed a bit more interesting specs including a Turbo mode for both CPUs.

As we wrote before, the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition works at 3.2GHz, has a total of 9MB of cache (3MB L2 and 6MB L3), and has a TDP of 125W. This one has a Turbo mode that overclocks it to 3.6GHz and is currently listed at Microplex for 2295 Norway Kroner which is around €285.

The lower clocked AMD Phenom II X6 1055T has the same 9MB of cache, same 125W TDP but works at 2.8GHz with a 3.3GHz Turbo mode. Unlike the 1090T BE this one doesn't have an unlocked multiplier, but has a lower 1595 Norway Kroner price tag, which is around €198.

We are quite sure that other European retail/e-tail shops will join up soon but it's nice to have an idea about the price.

AMD has been on target whenever price/performance ratio's are considered.. But then until benchies don't come out, it's really a hard guess how good the Phenom II X6 are going to be...

BTW if these really equal i7-930 in performance, Intel is in for some trouble...Though it's a long shot, but if this does happen... It's going to be upgrade time... ;-)

ok time to be real.. I am pretty not sure price will not be that cheap.. Come on lot of research has to be done & give 6 core chips @ vada pav price !! ahh !! not for me.. Price will be some where around 20k according to me.. Forget the resources. Will get to know after launch only.
But i have another feeling that since amd are doing very well in GPU market Nvidia is down they might rattle intel market by pricing low on chips too..
One more thing top ranked amd processor X4 965 is priced around 10k if they can price X4 10k why not X6 15 lol.. There will be a day when CPUs will be sold like fruits in markets lmao..
Above these debates a very good mother board should be launched which has bunch of features OC ability stabilty too.. again the game is not over here..
Intel still has an edge :)

Will they price X4 6k after release of x6 I DOUBT THAT !!!
