They launched the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro in India so I don't see a reason why the wouldn't launch the Pixel 7a. Can't say much about the hardware to be honest. Hopefully it's a 90Hz panel and the camera sensor gets an update. And please for the love of god I hope that the fingerprint sensor will be improved.
As for the battery life for my Pixel 6a, I can squeeze out about 6-7 hours of screen on time given my usage. This is when I'm on Wi-Fi most of the time. It may vary if you're connected to a 4G/5G network.
Yeah that's what i meant only a new camera sensor. It's long due. And agree on 90 Hz as well. Disconcerting to hear about slow fp scanner though. Not that I use them anyways but still...
6 to 7 hours is decent i suppose. But should be more really. I can squeeze 5 to 6 hours from my Pixel 2 xl still.

Here is what my battery usage looks like by the end of the day. I don't know how accurate these graphs and usage times are. But I'm happy with what my phone offers.
I had around 30% charge left at 17:30 and the Digital Wellbeing dashboard read 6 hrs 32 mins but when I came back from the gym (phone was idle with cellular network ON) the dashboard showed only 6 hrs. And in one of the bars of battery usage graph, the readings are just empty.
So I can't say that these results are 100% accurate but what I can say is that the phones lasts me an entire day given my usage. I'm writing this with my battery on 6%.
Also getting 5-6 hours of usage on Pixel 2XL given it's age is really good.

A small update: This battery life test was done while the phone was connected to Wi-Fi 95% of the time. Now I've moved away from the city and to a remote place where Wi-Fi isn't available and I have to rely on mobile data 24x7. I get about 2 bars of signal (3 at best) and the speeds aren't that great. Enough to load a YouTube video in 360/480p and to surf this forum.
But the battery life takes a huge beating and the phone is uncomfortably warm to the touch (without phone case). I regularly have to charge the phone, at least twice a day and have about 10-20% left the next morning. I charge it once in the morning and then once more in the late evening.
It's sad to see that such issues are present in the newly launched Pixel 7a. I saw the video review of the 7a by geekyranjit and he also highlights the same points. It's a shame to be honest, how the tensor chips fall short and heat up when connected to mobile data. Did they not improve at all from generation to generation?

^^^ Nope...they will do nothing to disappoint Samsung, Once rumoured Samsung will put Bing search by default - Google got cardiac arrest. Anyhow Pixel is not even their priority.

Another bad experience to share. I was recording a webinar on the default recorder app. With mobile data on and under heavy use my phone sits around 40°C (AccuBattery Reading) the phone is warm to touch. But when I start recording, the "live transcript" feature is turned ON and the phone temperature shoots up by 3-4°C (gradually) & it then turns OFF the "live transcript" feature and says that the phone is too HOT. I think it's the same with recording a 4K video or something although I haven't tried doing so. I don't want my phone to become a ticking time bomb. Yikes.
At this rate it's become hard to recommend a Pixel phone. I'd only recommend if you're connected to Wi-Fi all day long and somehow magically find your self in an AC room.

What are your ambient temperatures? It's summer time so phones will be running mild warm to hot depending on what you are doing. As I type, I can already feel my phone is a bit on the warmer side for it's already 45C here.
The G2 coupled with high ambient temperatures will only make matters worse.
Did you just switch your net on? Accubattery shows a massive spike in power usage once you connect to the net as apps start to use the internet. From the SS, you are using mobile data and the signal strength isn't that good which means your modem will be working hard to keep up with the signal. All this will result in higher battery use and heat production. There's just no pleasing the modems on G2.
Right now it's a wait game. Google knows this. If people using Pixel 7 are relatively quiet about their devices not heating that much, then Google probably knows the answer. The question is when will it release it to 7a users.

Debloat it , you can remove many Google default installed apps .
Also you nextdns or Adguard DNS to stop the continuous tracking pings to google servers

Might be a bug or HW issue. Mine (6A) runs pretty hot under load (noticeably hotter than my Samsung G20) but its always fine under idle or regular usage (YT/Podcast/Music etc). Even outside in the 40+ degree Delhi heat.
The finger print censor is absolutely dogshit though. Honestly they should have used one in the back. At least it would have been consistent.
Really though, the camera makes up for almost everything lol
Yes, the fingerprint sensor is horrible. I have saved both thumbs to unlock the phone. It doesn't have any problem with my left thumb even if the thumb is wet. Only has a problem with my right thumb. Every other day, it complains about fingerprint not recognised for my right thumb. If i restart the phone, it recognises the thumb. Really weird.
