have been thru a similar harrowing exp with Asus n DigiComp....which is made of full of idiots....

i'd stay away frm asus.....

Sharekhan, pass on this link to ASUS - I'm sure they'd find it interesting if more people post their stories.

There are already couple of long threads on this issue. Asus will get enough content on its after sales performance achievements from TE.

i d had it , i would call a nation wide ban on ASUS ... propogate the message thru orkut , and email chains . seriously , at least Neoteric . the cheapness of a person , to refuse a plastic bag . no one is that stupid , or inconsiderate .

One of my frnds ASUS P5VDC-MX mobo was giving trouble just after 6 months of use....pc would randomly hang every few mins/hours....the retailer told it'd take abt a month to get it repaired/replaced and asked him to go to the service center directly...instead he got another board(again another ASUS(946G based) board)...our markets are flooded with cheap quality mobos from asus....its unfortunate they don't stock mobos from biostar/foxconn/gigabyte etc...i have decided against advising ASUS boards to my colleagues n frnds henceforth....or if i do i'll ask them to pick up from Prime....

Its a myth than Asus products fail more often.

Asus has the largest customer database here. Thats why you see more people with failures as there are more people with their boards.

Sure their low end mobos dont have as good built quality as some of their top end boards but they are decent.

All boards fail and in India there not a single decent distributor. I had to wait 1 month to get my friend's DS3 repaired from Digigaga. Which is not a low end products. And if you think ASUS low end products suck, try gigabyte low end mobos.

If for some weird reason you are deciding not to buy ASUS products in India then sorry to say you are missing out on the best products available in local market.

And RMA issue is not exactly related to India. Even company like DFI is having horrifying RMA issues in United states. Everyone needs to improve, but that will not happen overnight. There is just 1 Asus service station in Mumbai for Rashi. And thats very small located near miraroad or Vasai. And they handle entire Rashi RMA. And if a dealer knows some people there he can surely pull some strings ;)

I got instant next day replacement for my Asus board just becoz Anish @ mnemonic knew these people at distries and service centers since they opened up in 1997.

i have good experience with Ranshi and ASUS ...... got my A7N8X D board repaired after 2.5 years and after that its working for past 2 years i guess ...... recently i bought the M2N-E board which was not working after 2 week of use and they replaced it in 4 days ...... same with XFX 6600GT which was burned due to my mistake but still replaced in 1 hour :) ....... so, i think rashi is better place if u are looking for ASUS ........

Rahul can your rashi people be transfered to mumbai???

As far as i know Rashi people here in mumbai work for peanuts(according to them) and often they ask shop guys whether they have any job....so u can understand how serious are there staff

They are such idiots on phone they say your mobo is bak..and why i make 2hour trip in mumbai locals and reach they said who told u to come?????

The only best option is get a good dealer and i suggest all lammy guys(mumbai one) please help each other in this regard..as this is the main concern about mumbai only......Any more option other than prime???

I dont believe what the poor service you got from Rptech for ASUS boards.well I am using ASUS products from many years and never got any problem. Also after sale service for ASUS at Ludhiana is jet speed fast and good.they replaced my dead motherboard P5rd1-vm in just 2 days with new one..I am happy with performance of ASUS products and service in my case.

I had a decent experience with asus /RPtech in Bangalore. I bought an a7n266vm from mumbai, and later when i moved to Bangalore it konked out when there was a surge due to some electrical wires outside the house shorting out.

The mobo still had a years warranty left - out of three, and rptech bangalore fixed it free of cost. The board even had some modding done to it, which was to enable fsb selection in the BIOS. they did notice that but didn't complain about it.

I had 3 asus mobos (A7N-8x-dlx,a7v400-mx,m2n-mx).

all were given in for RMA but only the A7N-8X DX came out repaired completely,-after 25 days. Both the other boards had some sort of problem even after RMA.

I had a worse experience, had a Asus k8v got spoilt the assoles replaced it ( after a gap of 4 mths) with a k8v-mx and even thats spoilt now.

I had enough with bullshit Asus quality and support service, even HIS or crappy brands like Mercury never gave me so many issues.

Future strategy from now buy a cheap mobo from states 80$ or so, if it gets spoilt throw it away.. much better then buying a 6-7k mobo here and then all this b$ happens...

Took it to digicomp this monday and they tested the board . The board was working fine . Checked back home and saw the there was a backplate thing in the chieftec cabinet which was shorting those RAM banks .

Apparently after speaking to Zhopudey and thexfactor , i am not the only one whom this kind of thing has happened too ( ie goof up , ram shorting due to cabinet )

I mean who would have guessed :(

Congratulations SharekhaN!!

My woes unfortunately have not ended. Prime got the board back a couple of days back and today got the news that the video display is still not functioning. I know that the graphics card is working which means that the mobo is still not completely repaired. The Asus service centre in Vasai claims that the mobo is fine so Prime is sending it back tomorrow to cross-check.

I gave the board on 7th and its 27th now. The process gets revisited once again. This is unnecessary hassle. How I wish ppl stop taking customers for granted. I am in a service firm myself handling west and I know how a single customer complaint can wreck havoc in the team.

Unable to comprehend if I should just sit around now.
Anybody has any idea which firm in India manages Asus product repairs?

^^Digicomp ...Thats where i was directed to go ... Thats about 15 minutes from Prime . If you want , i can try and dig up a phone number for them .

Ok. But Prime was saying that they send it to a service centre in Vasai for repairs. So does Digicomp have an office in Vasai?

Its funny how amny people seem to be facing the same problem. Heres a description of what happened to my comp :

I left it on in the night , next morning it had gone off.. When I started it again, I didnt get any display.

I removed the gfx card , RAM.. reattached. Still no display.

Next time I left it on for 2 mins , put in my password .. and heard the windows logon sound. Which meant that my comp was working fine but I had no display.

I tested my LCD with my laptop > that worked, so it was the LCD.

I tested my GFX card at my friends place > that worked.

Connected a friends GFX card > no display.

I connected to my desktop using Remote Desktop Connection from my laptop, to see that the DEVICE MANAGER didnt detect the Display Adapter or my TV tuner card.

Funny thing is, using the comp through REMOTE DESKTOP, it worked perfectly.

Is it even possible that the mobo is still running fine, and JUST its PCIe and PCI slots are spoilt ?

I treied absolutely everything and now am sending the mobo to my dealer as a last resort. He has told me 15 days, I just hope it gets done in that much time.

All the above stories regarding asus service support .. i'm happy I bought it from the dealer.

Im surprised that SO many people seem to face this issue of ASUS's mobo's screwing up.

Next time I buy anything, im going to ask 20 ppl if I should buy ASUS.

Hmm...

@Ronnie , if you are in mumbai , you can go directly to the Lamington road digicomp , they have a big warehouse and a lot of motherboards are there . If its a raashi perphral board , their service center is on lamington gain . when i last spoke top them , they say they have it replaced generally in 2 days .

I havent dealt with them to establish if this is true or not . Mine was a board which was imported by Neoteric .

However when i did go to Digicomp they had a sign which stated Asus service center . So i guess all mobo's should be acceptable there which are of the Asus make .
