Hi Friends ,

As some of you may know that my network card and PCI slots went non functional during the first thunderstorms in the city due to a probable surge on the LAN .

What followed is a harrowing tale of poor after sales service from its importer Neoteric .

As soon as the incident happened , i took it to Hardtrac ,Lamington. for my replacement , this is the place where i bought it .They said take it to the Raashi service center . I took it there and they say that they are not the importers for the boards but Neoteric . They dont have any details for Neoteric , either address of number . They say they usually take 2 days for a replacement , so i am hopeful .

I go back to Hardtrac and tell them what Raashi told me . I ask them for details of Neotric . The dealer does not belive me when i say its not Raashi and thouroughly examines teh box and tells me , even he does not have the same and says that he will get the details and gets on the phone and talks silly to someone for 15-20 mins and keeps on giggling . I ask whats going on and that guys says that the shops are not yet opem and will require another 20 mins . I say that i am going to look around in lamington and tell him that ill be back . I go straight to Prime ABGB and the guy i know there says that how the ASUS service sucks and takes upto 1 month in dire cases . He promptly gets me Neoteric's contact info . I go back to Hardtrack and they guy still does not have the details . I say i have it already and dont bother . He still gets on the phone and tells me , Its not Neoteric i need to contact , But DigiComp who Service ASUS products . They say its a 5 minute walk and i end up walking over 20 mins from lamington to get there .

At Digicomp they checked my motherboard , smell it , do everything short of licking it . They give me a challan and say to keep calling them up every 3 days to check on the situation . i am informed that If its a minor issue they will fix the board and if major problems it will have to go to bangalore .
So i go back home and keep calling them . By end of week 1 , Digicomp informs me that they would need to send the board to Bangalore .

So another 3-4 days pass by when i call them up and they say that the board is beyond repair and i can collect the replacemnt from Neoteric . I am just happy at this stage that my motherboard will arrive .

So i go to Digicomp and they give me a new challan after making me wait for a long while and say that i need to take it to Neoteric . While i am stepping out of the door , they casually inform me that Neoteric is CLOSED on saturdays and i can go there on Monday . Mind you all this while i live in Mulund which is quite far from lamington . The guys then informs me that its 2nd saturday for the month so they might be open . I call Neoteric up , no one is picking up the phone , so i forget it and i join Nukeu666 and his friend at Lamington , since they are there to buy a computer for nukeu666 's friend .

I go to Neoteric on monday and give them the challan . they say that they dont have a spare at hand , the only board they can give me is a M2N-MX and mine is a higher end M2NPV-VM . I say no . They say they would need time to arrange it from Vasai and it will require another three days .

I am dead tired going and coming to Lamington now . I am frustrated Using my AM64 2800+ which is half dead . I get a call from Neoteric on the 2nd day and say i can pick it up tomorrow .

I went to Neoteric yesterday , Ie the 3rd day and picked up my motherboard . I ask the person there , who has been nothing but the biggest dumass i have seen , " Is the motherboard tested ?" He says " yes , its brand new " and asks me to sign the challan . i do that . He takes the motherboard out of the box , only in its plastic cover and hands it over to me . I ask him , if i can have a plastic bag to carry the same since i dont want to take chances as its the rainy season . He says " No sir , this is only a service center and we dont provide plastic bags . " I lose my cool at this point in time and lambast him for the most atrocious customer service ever . I walk out when a other gentleman hands over an empty box for me to carry motherboard back .

I bring it back , happy enough and fix it in my new chieftec case and new PSU . i start it up and get a No Post . beep sounds . one long ,2 short . i check and check , try combinations of my 2 corsair sticks and come to a conclusion that 1 channel ie 2 slots are faulty . i cant run my pc in Dual channel . I call up neoteric and inform them of the same trying to be as clam as possible . i am asked if i have tampered with the motherboard . I feel like slapping that man silly . Then the call gets handed over to some other person and that guy asks me to go back to DigiComp to start over the process since its an Asus board , and thats how its taken care of . I shout at him more and that guy asks me to go to digicomp and call neoteric up from there and then tey will see if something can be sorted out .

Thats my story . At this point i just want to use the system the way it is as i am too frustrated to get in the system again of replacements . I have been adviced to get it replaced asap .
I dont know what i may do in this case . i might just buy a new motherboard . But , Please stay away from ASUS boards . thats all i can say . especially Neoteric importers as they are the worst .

ive been thru the same , trust me, get 2 the head of that dept, fk their heads, only then things get done, i had 2 literally go thru the same for my p5b dlx, sad case indeed, such high end boards n such pathetic service, if possible write a mail 2 their headoffice in asia

Been through the same thing man! Write a letter out to Asus with copies going out to both the importers and service centres. Also shoot out a copy of this to either Digit or Chip.
As long as enthusists keep picking up these boards the companies do not give a damn....

1 sentence.

The dealer matters.

Till this date i have never had to go to any god damn service station for any of my RMA service. :P

Sure asus or for that matter all the board parther's service sucks in india. No matter what people say i have had terrible experience with even Digigaga for the friend's board just a week back.

This is advice to everyone, dont try to save 200-300 rupees and buy products from where its cheapest. Inquire about the dealers and stick to those who will take care of RMA for you. And preferably near to you place. :)

Having a busted board seems to be so nightmarish for ASUS owners. I think if its possible for anyone, they should source it from outside.

1. If something goes wrong, you can get it repaired - even asus in India wont give a replacement before trying to fix it first

2. And would take equal pains in getting it replaced if its not repairable

3. With the amount of premium what we pay here in India, One can just buy a cheap standby board :)

I have never had good after sales support for computer hardware. I have tried both cheap guys and guys who take a premium telling that they will provide good service.

Many might not agree with this, its just my opinion.

Motherboards are big boxes. even relatives will have issues bringing it in their luggage.

Indian service center wont even touch imported board. They do ask for some sort of proof of purchase. They wont even touch it even if u r ready to pay for repairs unless you know someone who can pull some strings.

Motherboards have one of the highest failure rate amongst the pc components. So i would not recommend anyone getting imported board unless its something that you dont get at all in India.
I do have imported motherboard with me but its the board that you dont get in India ;)

Thats why i take all pc stuff from locally[Dombivli] it rs50 costly than Lamington.

only some rare thing i have go Lamington.

oh my god...this is such a harrowing story, my asus p5b dlx is also bust, and i bought it from coimbatore and now i am in delhi, i was thinking of going to rashi peripherals in NP, Delhi on saturday but dont know how things will go since i bought it from a different state, i was hoping for a RMA but i dont think it would be possible now.

Man....you have really had a lot of patience dealing with those guys. I used to live in B'bay and I know that just getting to and from Lammy in the train sucks.

IMO, motherboard problems are the worst because just installing and removing the mobo is the biggest pain of all. And I just don't buy the argument that ASUS builds quality stuff. Asus is a budget to medium scale manufacturer with medium build quality in all their products. Only Intel, MSI(where the hell have they gone?) and DFI build boards of some quality. I'd rate Gigabyte ahead of Asus.

Nothing beats having a good dealer who will take care of RMA. Post the dealer details here so people from B'bay can avoid going to him. Also, anyone from B'bay who can help this guy out, pls post some dealer with whom you have had a favourable experience in RMA. Sharekhan, you should probably get another board if you really can't live with the problem and maybe take the help of someone in TE staying close to Lammy if you know anyone for getting the RMA done.

Ya, it depends on many things. I havent had much problems though.

Ive got mobos fixed in Bangalore, its not much of an hassle. But will take at least a week for him to fix it. They can usually tell whats the problem in couple of minutes but will take a lot of time to get it fixed.

But ive gone directly to the guy who repairs mobos not the service center.

Same here :)

i never go to service centre... i infact buy new stuffs since the bad experience with Samsung. touchwood... rare hardware went kaput before the warranty ends. some small hardware like keyboard / mouse went kaput but i dotn care for replacement/repair unless it has high value for 5K or more.

This is the exact reason why I paid Rs.350 more to Prime ABGB for my Board, when I could have got it from somewhere else.

My Old P5B Deluxe was screwed, dropped it of @ Prime, and in 5 days, I had is back, repaired and working fine. (The CPU Pins were damaged, some idiot touched the CPU Socket Pins, and bent 3 of them..)

Right now, Ive RMA'ed my P5N32-e SLI, which Gulbir is handling, and he assured me, that hell get me a new motherboard, not a repaired version of the same. DigiCom already "checked" it and gave it back saying there was no issue. I guess they dont know what a Cold Boot issue is.

After than, I have to RMA my P5B Deluxe again, since the Network Adapters are acting up.

Except for the part that the RMA takes to long, if you get it done through the Right people, RMA is done well.

Asus RMA sucks?

Try Gigabyte/MSI/XFX etc... Then youll know.

As Funky sayz... the dealer does matter...

My Palit 7600GT busted and also took Intel 915GAV with it... Now expecting long delays.. I purchased a new mobo with suggestions from TE members. Also as I had purchased a bare mobo without onborad gfz I also bought a backup 7100 with it..

I returned the gfx card to computer selection and he told me that teh card will be replaced within 2 weeks. I called them later in the week and he told me it has gone to bangalore.. I called him next week. and he told teh card is back.. I went collected the card.. which was a brand new one with a betetr heat sink...

Now for the mobo.. though under warranty.. and even though intel has good after sales service... I'm still waiting for the board... damn... bcoz I had bought the board from a different dealer (Micron in thane)

Rather that going for the cheapest rates I would not mind paying a couple of 100 extra and get good service.

Even in case of my Altec Lansing which were faulty (actually I set them up wrongly) but were pronptly rplaced the next day by the dealer in Mulund.

Hi,

SharekhaN, my commiserations. I am going through this myself but nothing close what you have had to undergo.

I had read a lot of Asus horror stories and still went ahead and bought the Asus P5B dlx board in Jan. And all my fears came true in the first week of June. One fine day the comp refused to boot up. No beeps, no post, nothing. So I lug it to Prime on the 7th and they are managing the repairs for me. Still to get the board but atleast Prime is not making me run around myself. I have absolutely no time to be running around different shops since I travel out of town also pretty frequently.
I have a couple of laptops at home so able manage without the comp for now. But my HT is silent these days since the comp used to be at the centre of the action.

However unable to comprehend how the board can go down in just 4 months. My old Intel 865GBF is going great guns even now after almost 3.5 years.

I have decided to stay off Asus boards going forward.

My motherboard's CHIPSET FAN was dead. Actually, it was going to die soon. It was spinning like 's...p...i...n'. The board was within warranty.

Sent to Distributor directly. They received the board. No temp board given. After 1 month they called me. Returned the mobo and found that its the same board with same fan !! (I marked the fan and board with pencil in a non circuit place).

Also, after few sec of running 'thermal damage' and death of the board.

Again returned to the distributor but now with a 'gun'.

Told them. Now, they are threatening me that I will not get warranty as it is thermal damage. :@
I put out my 'gun' and showed them....... got motherboard replacement within 3 days

P.S. The 'gun' is not a weapon, its actually forms (2 types of forms), one is notice type that is meant to give as a notice to the other party before going to consumer court and other one is application to consumer court :ohyeah:
Have a question
Is there any 'ghandi giri' to counter this kind of service ?

Asus aught to do something regarding their pathetic service. Their products are good but they will loose peoples confidence if this continues.

Gigabyte RMA is best go there center they will tell u time how long it take. i have gone for my friend mobo to RMA got new mobo in 20 mins

The thing is it seems Asus products require RMA more often than Gigabyte or MSI. Asus products seem to go bust more often.
