Re: The Official "Portal 2 " Thread

Awesome! I reach home generally around 7 PM and browse the web for a while after freshening up before I begin gaming for the day. Portal 2 was delayed for long.

Also, did you get a mic?

Nope. Will use my IEMs as the mic.

The sensitivity will be lower compared to a mic but it still works! :)

Want to give it a test run tonight? I'll install the game and the first act, if memory serves, is quite easy. Get Skype and create an ID. I'll give you a call when I get home. Tell you what, let's ditch voice chat for tonight as my mum would be watching her saas bahu opera in my room at night, so don't want that creating a nuisance. We'll use the gesture system in the game and make do with text chat. :P

^Actually I am just about to order the router. :ashamed:

Once it comes, I'll set it up with my Reliance connection and give you a ring. I'll start the SP campaign today evening. :)

Wokay! Drop me a buzz when you're ready. :)

Began the title yesterday night and completed 2 chapters. This is one seriously addictive game like the first one. Though not much has changed from the first game, it still offers a lot of fun and requires some brain work to figure out the puzzles. The first 2 chapters were pretty easy and it may take a minute or to to figure out what goes where but that's about it.

The best part I loved about the game other than the usual puzzle solving is the voice acting and level design. Ellen McLain who reprises her role as GLaDOS and Stephen Merchant as Wheatley, the new character in this game have been amazing by far. There have been some really humorous dialogue exchanges and announcements as the game progresses. The Aperture science facility has been beautifully designed - right from the scrap and debris to those huge levels which may at first appeal to the player as somewaht visually complicated but in essence has a really simple solution. Some of the levels have been designed very cleverly!

The rakshabandhan weekend is SET but I regret having delayed it this far. :(

Always think better late than never :P

Haven't bought this yet but when I started Portal in April, I remember getting kicked couple of times for sticking to the comp a little too long

Hah! Atleast there's one game that I've finished before you 2! :P

Anyways, Portal 2 was really fun with the funny dialogues.

I don't know if it was just me but I felt was that the puzzles had become slightly more easier than Portal 1.

Done with the game. I am beyond words to describe the experience. It was one of a kind. This game redefines the platforming genre coupled with the FPS perspective - probably deserves a new genre itself. The game's dark humor and the level designs were brilliant. I wish it was a notch lengthier - like its predecessor the campaign length was short!

Hats off to Newell and the team at Valve for making an awesome sequel! Looking forward for Portal 3 - whenever it comes i.e. :)

Now, Allwyn when are we teaming up! My router should be here in a couple of days, give me a day's time to set it up and I'll ping you. Oh and I call dibs on Atlas. :P

Allwyn could you wait a bit more? Like 3 weeks or so? :( Sunish (dvdstoredelhi) called me up a moment back and confirmed only 1 router is available ATM and my roomie needs one urgently. I thought of passing this one to him. The new stocks are expected in 3 weeks' time. Can't we not complete our respective backlogs until then?

The co-op session anyhow wouldn't take more than 3 sittings to complete.

The "only" game which made me sit on my Desktop after ages. Says a lot about how big a fan I am of the franchise. The only other game I am looking forward to play is Mirror's Edge 2. Will play that on my 360. No longer a FPS fan. Tried playing the latest Crysis and quit playing after 4 levels. Hopefully Valve devices a plan to introduce the portal gun in half-life series which again would probably be the only FPS which I would sit and finish whensoever the latest episode comes.

Coming back to portal the USP of the game is "reflexes + puzzle solving" at the same time.

Had a small co-op session with Allwyn and completed Chapter 1 and progressed until the last but third map in Chapter 2. It sure was awesome. Took us some time to figure out some puzzles. We had Skype in the backhround ON so we could chat as well. :D

Bugger left! :@ Will resume this weekend due to our odd work timings.

Bugger had to leave, because he didn't know we had a co-op session planned later that night. :P

Any-hoo, this weekend for sure. :)
