OC & Modding Project White Knight : Air Cooling at it's Best..

Skilled
my search for a good air cooled full tower case was going on for a long time, until i found this

DSCF0019.jpg

i'll be upgrading from my CM690 to this case, but i've decided to make this case one of a kind.

so,here's a list of mods that i've planned to do on this case.

1) Mod the side panel to fit the Lian Li Window.

2) Add support for 2 x 140mm top fans.

3) Add support for 2 x 120mm fans behind HDD Bay.

4) Sleeve every damn Cable.

5) Change all the fans to Xigmatek white LED Fans

6) Tint Side Window.

7) Paint the case from black from inside & white from outside with some designs using other colors.

8) Cut some holes on the motherboard tray for better cable management.

9) Make the motherboard tray removable.

10) Add support for 2x120mm fans on the back side like antec 1200.

11) Mod the front fan support to house 2x120mm Fans.

Good luck with cutting the holes on the motherboard tray. A word of caution - this is Alu. not SECC, so be warned. Take a cutter anywhere close by and it would cut like a hot knife through butter!

Thanks all for your Support. :)

Here's a list of products that i've already ordered -

1) Side Window Plexi Glass from our Lian Li Dealer Sudhir.

2) 1/8" & 1/4" Techflex Cable Sleeve in White & Black with Heatshrink tubing + Few Adel Clamps from ebay US seller furryletters.

(i bought these stuffs from furryletters rather than MDPC-X as i'm tight on budget)

3) 2 x 4 Pin PWM Fan Extension Cable + 2 x Anodized Aluminum Air Filter from ebay HK Seller FP-Outlet.

4) 1/8" Masking Tape (for something that i have in mind :p).

5) few 35mm M4 Screws for securing fans (these are mostly used with Rads)

6) some dome nuts for the M4 Screws + some lock nuts

7) Hole Saw for drilling 120mm holes for fans.

8) 5 x 120mm Xigmatek Orange Bladed white Led Fans from Mediahome.in

nice job and great planning

ps i checked ur link for the hole saw and its only till 2.5 inches. 120 mm is 3.5 inches so u may want2 check it
thanks for pointing that out,i was silly to read it as 21.5" :ashamed:

BTW for 120mm i'll be needing 4.5" hole saw.

UPDATE - 18/11/2010

Something arrived at the door today.

Lemme See,it's something from our Lian Li Dealer

while taking the case apart i found out that the motherboard tray is not removable,i thought it was :(

so,added that to my modding list.

also planned to something with the tool less PCI Card Holder

DSCF0045.jpg

stripping it down.

DSCF0044.jpg

DSCF0049.jpg

DSCF0050.jpg

DSCF0051.jpg

then i moved on to the side panel,i used a 0.75" wide painters masking tape & covered entire panel with that.

here's how it looks

DSCF0041.jpg

then i used the glass & marked the outline with a pencil.

DSCF0042.jpg

DSCF0043.jpg

then i draw marked another sketch of the glass 1.5cm inwards of the line, this is where actual cut is to be made.

that's it for now, will keep you all updated.

also,i'm unable to find any 4.5" hole saw in my city so if any fellow TE member from metro cities can help then it would be great :)

YGPM.

This case has been on my mind for a while now. Will be my first choice when I decide to pick up a full tower.

Couple of things that came to my mind. Wish you had considered the Arctic Cooling fans with white blades for the case rather than Orange ones with white lights.

I have seen some cases with those and they look gorgeous. But yes, they tend to get dirty fast.

Also if you plan to sell those fans that came with the case, let me know.

Most importantly. All the best :) Would love to see what this turns out like once its done.

Thank You very much for your appreciation. :)

the thing you said about the arctic cooling fans is true but i have something else in my mind.

just wait & watch & you'll get to know why i chose these xiggy fans. :p

naveen awesome work brother

i was also looking around for a 120mm hole saw but they are not made here

i was told it will have to ordered and it would be specially made

awesome work on an another note

i would be willing to help in any given way :)

Okie Doke. Subbing to the thread.

Let us know if you get a 4 1/2" hole saw. Checked around here but could not get it locally. Also you need to be certain to will cut aluminium or metals.

Oh ok...which drill are you planning to use? And is the arbour for 100 mm size holesaw? Asking cause if the hole saw is not available, why do people sell an arbour which can manage that size?

Sorry for not keeping you all updated.
i was busy with some more important tasks in my life.
Anyways i'm back now & here goes the update... :)

UPDATE - 20/12/2010

first of all i deriveted some rivets & made the motherboard tray removable.

here's the motherboard tray

DSCF0057.jpg

some unnecessary stuff :p ,removed that as well.

DSCF0058.jpg

so,the motherboard tray is now removable. yipee.

since there was too much space on the back so, i thought that it would be better to make the back of the case look like antec 1200.
two exhaust fans one above the other.

did some markings.

DSCF0187.jpg

then used a A4 paper & made a template of it.

DSCF0059.jpg

tada,here's the end result

DSCF0203.jpg

DSCF0201.jpg

i was searching for 140mm xiggy orange fans but noone not even Anuj was able to source them & icc quote was like 1.5k per fan
