Protest the increment in price by Milestone interactive for video games

^ Piracy is not justified, but neither are the company's sky-high prices. I can't shell out 6-7k on a couple of games... when for the same money I could upgrade my GFX or boost my RAM or CPU.

There has to a 'value for money' (vfm) factor - afterall money doesn't grow on trees. This VFM factor depends on an individual basis... for you a 3k game might VFM, but for others it might be daylight robbery. :scared14:

Supporting the companies is fine... i'm in on that too... provided the game is worth my money... I've bought legit games after finishing the whole pirated copy, just to support developer :hail:

EA is not one of those companies on my list... their sports games like FIFA are just a roster update with a few tweaks... the NFS franchise has failed to deliver after Most Wanted released in 2005.. the remaining games I don't play ;)

The conversation started from FIFA price hike from 999 to 1700.

I do not believe 999 to 3000 for Crysis 2 and 3 is justified in any way. I've mentioned that in my posts, please read.

I have also clearly mentioned that its their IP they can price it the way they want to, Games are not essential commodities like food, the way it has been suggested. When we don't buy it prices will fall . Threatening them with piracy is not the way to go IMO.

Nice pic BTW.

You know, for all the 5 pages of very informative, well thought out and generally valid points against the price raise, all I see for the price raise is your "Their product, their price" argument. I commend you for taking a stand, the internet would be a boring place without difference in opinion, but seriously, this argument is really weak.

"When we don't buy it prices will come down"? What if it is my cousin's birthday and I want to gift it now? Or I am a tournament organizer and want to have a FIFA tourney in my college? If the pricing is wrong why punish the consumers who want to buy it legally?

Buy some other game, its not milk you know :)

If that idea has still not registered with you, feel free to troll their Facebook page.

Ciao.

This is what is disturbing imo too. Prices should at the least be justified.
Until i start earning money, i'm not buying EA games anymore. Can't afford it.
Same here bhai. I guess 4-5 years in future I'll buy an EA Game. :p

A lot of people confuse what "really" happens with what "should" happen in a perfect world.
In a perfect world if prices rise as much as they have, people will not buy the game if they can't afford it and simply not play that game.
What really happens is that they just buy pirated games.
Please note that I have not justified piracy with my comment here. I have just tried to point out the difference between real and ideal world. I just hope people continue playing BF3 and FIFA 12 untill EA revises their prices. Otherwise I will have to say good bye to gaming because single player games are not fun anymore for me and Multiplayer games are not worth pirating.

Don't Buy = Very Less Impact on EA.. Epic Fail!

Don't Buy + Piracy = In your Face! Take that Beeyaach! :evilgrin39::1ign09:

Low Prices = Me :) and Game Developer :) ...:yahoo:

But,

Dont buy + Piracy = No MP i.e No gaming with friends :bye2:

Last year I put in the most number of multiplayer hours in Crysis2, followed by some hours in BF3.

This year MW3, some Uncharted 3 coop, Gears of War, Hot Pursuit yeah decent amount of MP and looking forward to BL:R and Dust 514. Glad that the last two are free. Phew.

There has to be some stats behind all this , I dont think EA is so stupid to take impulse decisions . May be they are experimenting here , how does a price rise affect sales , etc who knows what . But what we are aware of , even EA are aware of .
So there must be some basis behind the decision .

Seriously, all prices have been jacked up. It's already up for pre-order so I don't know if they are experimenting or maybe they are. Dead Space 3 - INR3350+ LoL!

If they claim that some kind of fcuk up happened on Origin with the price points then we know :)

Right. Because my post says that I'm going to pirate it. init?

Here for your benefit, that's post 62.
Rs. 3000 price tag is not something I'm happy about. I'll just put my money somewhere else

I checked origin yesterday and looks like I am late to the party, but by George, have they increased the prices .. I wont be pirating stuff, but bye bbye to EA titles till they wake up and come to their senses..... PC games for the first time in recent history have seen such a HUGE price increase...3300 for a game!!! Are they serious??? I think Dead space 3 was up for pre order at the then standard EA price of 1500 a couple of months ago....!!!

BF3 just got a new lease of life and may be there for the next 3 years and BFBC2 might survive till next year now.... I win.....yyaayyyy....

On a more serious note, I personally don't support the argument that whoever makes a product has the right to set the price. Price is always set by competition and demand and supply rule... Many people have tried this in the past and failed.,.. Nvidia is an example when GTX 260 was selling for 25K a piece as there was no competition. When ATI came in with 4870 at 15K, nvidia was left in ruins. They suffered a lot. They lost more than a couple of partners and had to fire people from their company. THey could only get back on their feet after a year and a half. Till then, the damage had been done and ATI was more popular than ever before.... I know it's not good comparing software price wars with their hardware counterparts, but this comparison is not apples v. oranges either.

EA will come back to their senses, but only after losing a good chunk of their popularity....and maybe a few developers...

Then this would be a similar scenario to what you have explained with Nvidia. EA is going down the same path. and yeah, Price is always set by competition and demand and supply rule. There is a huge demand for popular EA games which has prompted them to take this pricing decision.
