Protest the increment in price by Milestone interactive for video games

ALPHA17 There are many affordable ways of downloading too. If low costs implements and suppose retail goes away. Users will be downloading the game. Then Routers with a prob of downloading directly to External HDD(I dunno what it is and how it works i was suggested such a method once) and like download rigs will be built by people for downloading those which consume much less power. I hope.

See if one game is priced at ~3.5k. If prices go low suppose to 500(Just assume) then while downloading, rig to be built just once may cost 5k. but downloading 3 title which were priced at 3.5k each = 10.5k whereas if prices go low then 3x500=1500 + 5k Rig + max you take 1.5k bill for download(only because of this rig/router) + 1k net connection = 9k. I guess 1.5k still saves up. I know its like "Hawa mein Pulao Pakana" but still its a way i want to put forward my point. Don't take any thing said above too Seriously. :P i just put forward my view, the prices may change err..whatever.
My friends OTOH keep asking me all the time, "Oh how do you spend so much for console titles? Like 2.2~2.7k a title? Are you crazy?". What they don't realise is, after playing the title I sell it off for a 400~500 Rs discount which is like a good discount to the prospective buyers who weren't willing to shell out the retail price for the title during the launch. And a good price for me as well. A win-win for both the parties. And come on isn't a title worth at least 500 Rs? Maybe i am wrong about what all i said in reply to you thats why i am asking. :)

Definitely agree with you on this. Prices for console is a bit high but imo PC owners spent a lot on PC upgrades. So i guess pc owners must get some slack? I guess. I dunno anything about all of this much but which costs more releasing game on a console or PC(making a game all included) Do tell me please. Thanks

Looks like we are all victims of circumstances and that allows us to pirate games or other media.

EA, apple or any body can price their product the way they like.

If you don't like it, do NOT buy it. Don't justify piracy by saying I can't afford it yada yada let's fcuk EA b**ches pirate the $hit outta them.

You are not entitled to STEAL if you can't afford it.

But why should we keep away from Crysis 3 when it would be easily available on Torrents. Right?

I haven't checked any prices yet and waiting for a comment from EA. Rs. 3000 price tag is not something I'm happy about. I'll just put my money somewhere else.

^^ I say every good game is worth atleast 999/- ;) (Only in India ofcourse) . It justifies the effort taken by the developers to create a good game.

And whatever, most PC gamers are pirates, atleast in India, incl me, where good internet connection is not affordable. Those guys dont even play online, so are happy downloading it from torrents or buying a copy from streets just to play SP.

When I started playing MP online, I got the taste of MP and so never bothered to complete a SP game. FYI not yet completed Ghost recon.

Deep within me, I still feel that game developers take a lot of effort to bring out a game, be it good or bad, So now I have already preordered Farcry3, CS GO, Crysis3. But such a price hike by EA is not acceptable at all.

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

By deciding that 999 is the max you'll pay for games right?

Why should that dictate publishers from not pricing it anywhere above that? Its their product. When it does not sell well prices will come down right?

To say 999 or 1299 else I'll pirate is childish. To say that I care about the developer and not the publisher is also insensitive. They put the game out. Crysis3 and Farcry3 are by no means small budget games, they are blockbuster games with huge budgets. Who sponsors these devs?

Publishers should be reined in from time to time but not by piracy surely.

CD projekt is loved by all right? How come they got screwed last year of tons and tons of sales?

I wish we could do the same thing for iphones. One large distributer bringing phones for free because Indian iPhones are on the expensive side.

I know -- POGOPLUG and Android / tablet devices can be used as a low cost alternative to this downloading ka issue, but not everyone is privileged to have one at their disposal. I do not have one and I doubt I can convince my parents in the immediate future.

Rest I am in complete agreement with you, I would not mind buying more games on STEAM's Summer Sale but downloading it over a slow OR unstable net-connection ends me with same approximate expenditure on the game I might have got cheaper from the retail channel.

I have edited it to "atleast". I meant it that way. Kindly put down your Gun Mr.
How did you arrive at that conclusion?

Yeah true. But I am the buyer, its my money, I got to decide how much I can spend on a game. I dont have money to spend above 1.5k on a game. Else I am going to pirate it Now do you call this childish? Or you call it wise enough depending on ones financial background? Haven't middle class people like me got the right to enjoy OG games?

Quick [I do not know your name], just to make things clear we are not putting down anything as a hard-line here.

Last year I was ready to buy The Witcher 2 PREMIUM EDITION for just over ~2800/- when it initially released at that price point in India. I got it two months later for ~1500/-, have not spent a sizeable amount after that to update it, enhance it OR even resurrect it. The service offered by CD PROJECKT RED is what makes them loved irrespective of the fact that they are not selling 6.5 million games on the day of release.

The only issue we are facing as customers is the fact that we cannot justify spending ~3500/- per-title on release OR even half a year after look at BattleField 3 prices, in-fact there are no physical copies available in the retail channels currently which forces a new comer to buy expensive packs to complete his experience OR just throw half of his disposable income for a single license.

Maybe premium edition can be priced so crazy not the standard edition.

999 or atleast 999 isn't the point here Chirag. That ways I can put a conditional price tag of 800. Its their product and they can price it anyway they want to.

When EA India's numbers fall they will cut down the prices won't they?
So why threaten them with piracy publicly and make a scene?

Chill out and wait prices will come down. I just wish they have a good justification for this insane hike.

EA, apple or any body can price their product the way they like. What are you guys communists?

No, EA or Apple cannot price the product as they like, it's like saying tomorrow milk might be Rs. 90/packet because cows now want icecream, not lowly grass. What are you, an EA employee? Stop justifying greedy execs trying to price gouge the consumer.

Yeah i can agree with you on the electricity bills cause maybe i am a bit immature related to these as i am still dependent on my father paying all these expenses. Once i pay i guess i'll get the grasp of it. :)

And I still feel that this price hike was only coz of BF3 Premium. When BF3 premium was released it was for 1499/-and many cases were reported in which those UK and US guys bought it from Indian Origin coz it was lot cheaper here. So EA raised the price of BF3 premium first and then other games followed as well.
So why threaten them with piracy publicly and make a scene?

Quick [I do not know your name]

What's that supposed to mean?
@jc36lect3r No I'm not an EA employee, stupid comments do come from senior members too I see.
Find a new hobby. Games are not essential commodities like food items. Get over it.

@Chirag it sure is a stunt. And a typical Indian one too, whiny one. Gun is safely holstered, sir.

Is it only me or everyone else is also seeing the increased prices of nearly all upcoming games in an origin store.

GTA 4 is my first legit game purchase that is followed by BF3 and Max Payne 3 but "that's it" for now i think :bye:

I am not gonna buy games at these prices simply because they have almost doubled the prices which is damm expensive for me atleast .

So why threaten them with piracy publicly and make a scene? To show off our Indianness?

This is offensive dude. Seriously, get off your high horse. Piracy is not an India-specific phenomenon. If anything, piracy is responsible for the existence of any kind of gaming scene in India. For the longest time these publishers were not even bothered to release their games in India. Piracy was the only option those days. Every gamer I personally know first got into gaming by playing pirated games. I know this is anecdotal, but I'm sure it is the case with 95 percent of the TE crowd too. Also, these guys here are not asking for free games. They are ready to pay what they can afford, what they think is value for money.

Those prices are seriously crazy though. I'm not sure what those people are thinking. I would be very interested to see how many copies they manage to sell at that point. How many people on TE will buy at that point? They must have some info on the market. I dont think they are stupid enough to price it like this without some forecast on the sales numbers.

Also, regarding the discussion about piracy, there is another option. Waiting for sales. Prices come down pretty quickly nowadays.

This is an awesome pic!

What's that supposed to mean?

I don't know how to address you, earlier I would have used, Sire, over-time I am trying to stop falling back on that. Cheerio!!

jc36lect3r to beat a dead horse, true. :hail: and to be labelled communist on top of that.

If I was a communist I would have been handing out Kalashnikovs' to bored people instead of allowing them to waste their income on bourgeois commodities like games, films and novels.

Errrm guys, relax and have a healthy discussion. Please understand that the forum is open to everyone to point out their views and opinions. It may or may not be the same as others' so please respect that and move on. I do not want to hand out warnings and infractions.
