In the wake of ps3 and the obvious business sense to promote a console which ll bring in better returns on all fronts from games to accessories to DLC, ps2 wasnt really looked into. Now with PS4 launch, surely there will be a dent in the sale of ps3 ( which they been claiming has only now started to bring in profits from the h/w sales)
Sony being the stingy company it is, will try to boost the sales of the ps3 h/w in the coming future. Which ll not only mean revenue from ps3 sales but also ensure accessories of ps3 too remain in demand. Witnessing that ps2 sales has been majorly due to modding options available, not too far fetched a thing that they ll try to get some more juice from ps3 even after PS4 has been launched.
Was it so hard to comprehend ?

There are more 360's in this world for the simple fact that it is hackable, if this news is true, which it most likely is, the ps3 will sell more than 5 million consoles during Q4 of 2010 (Financial Q3).

I wouldn't be bothered about this device. Copying so much data to the hard drive is a pain. Not worth the time and expense. I would give this a miss. Can play and sell a game for like 300~400 INR and that makes perfect sense. The ROI would take it's sweet time with the device.

Another thing to remember when using the PS Jailbreak is that to play your games off the hard drive you will need to leave one of your original games in the console, not a big problem but just something to remember. The official PS Jailbreak website will have full manuals for using the device, as well as firmware updates and troubleshooting guides.

Console manufacturers make most money from Software sales not Hardware sales so SONY itself would do this kind of thing
and PS4 was not so successful because of modding but because of its games,it sold total of 1.5billion Software and SONY gets a royalty for every single piece of that and more profits from their own games
also PS3 has good HW sales ahead and many price cuts your reasoning doesn't stand
