Pune: Bachelors not allowed in Housing Societies

I read the whole thread today without noticing the date when thread was started, and was wondering (until I reached last couple of posts) why raksrules is saying he is living with room mates

I know the thread owner is 3 years old but cant resist writing this.

The bunch of morons in a society are greater than Bachelors creating noise. Once these guys infront of us and they were loud till 12 then they slept off. The person who was affected did not bother but the guy living two building apart made a scene. Not that they were correct but he was a bigger moron.

Man, getting drunk and creating a nuisance is one thing. Obviously one wouldn't want to have an unstable violent individual live close to them. But people having a problem with bachelors because some chick(s) comes to their house is just ridiculous. Some people are afraid that they might be indulging in getting prostitutes over but what's the harm in getting friends of the opposite sex over? Even if you're making out in the privacy of your own four walls, it's nobody's business.

That being said, my mom has some been giving her flat for rent to people over the years and she's pretty wary of the type of people who come in. Usually people avoid bachelors because of all the negative things they tend to associate with them. But then again, we can't pool everyone in the same boat. People's attitude is generally that it's better to be safe than sorry.

There are also many married men who tend to be violent jerks.

It gets worse when you buy a house and join the EMI club

I am not going to buy a house and don't intend to live in this current city (Pune) always.
And yes i know EMI club is not where everyone wants to be. Large chunk of salary goes away every month.

This is a load of bull. What people do in the privacy of their homes shouldn't be the concern of anyone else.

I agree. Many owners go man if you bring a girl to you home. WTF??
Although that couple shouldn't have thrown the condom on others' trash.

And the same way, to whom people want to rent their houses and whom to deny and for what reasons is the choice of the house owner. Nobody would like to rent their property to troublemakers and what a troublemaker is for the them to define. When I rented an accommodation in Chandigarh, the land lady was very particular about not taking in people who drink or smoke. Yeah, she has every right to state her rules. You have no right to tell her that what I do inside the house is my own damn business.

Just to take the same incident as example, What if those guys had brought some girl and raped or murdered her in the house. Do you think the there won't be any adverse effects for the land lord or other tenants?

There are a number of things for which you cannot say that what happens in my house is my own damn business. When you do things that directly or indirectly affect others, they have every damn right to interfere.

Here in bangalore, something similar happened to me. They kicked me out although it was neither our fault. Their son was getting married and they needed the apartment. But I couldnt take the rules, so I just bought an apartment.

Now when others think I am a tenant and try to impose their rules, I just flip them and say that I am the owner> Love to see their expression when a 23 year old guy basically tells them to shut it. lol

There are different aspects I will say. I assume you guys have not been part of any society body, being part of it makes you think differently.
In our society few things happened where there was police cases wherein the bachelors were responsible for it but at that time society wasn't formed so those guys came out clean.
I might sound against all but things are different when majority of flats are on tenancy with bachelors are staying, makes difficult for minority staying families.

A funny incident happened almost a month back when our landlord turned up at our doorstep on a Sunday morn. around 9 AM with a friend of his. He basically wanted to show the apartment and its construction/layout to his friend so he tagged along. The bachelors that we guys are, we generally tend to sleep late during weekends and wake up late so this was quite a surprise when the two came up early and we opened the door half-asleep in our boxers! :P

To their utter shock, they saw the apartment in its entirety and thanked us for keeping it spick and span. He walked away a happy man. And we went back to sleep.

PS: Some of you may already know of our apartment. For those who don't, this thread should give you an idea - http://www.techenclave.com/show-off/home-137911/
