i doubt quake can relive its glory, i thought if they would use some kinda new breakthrough engine and better netcode ( look at TF2 , super sexy even at 150 pings), they might have had a chance.

However, gameplay wise Quake III has a lot to offer still, not live, Just QuakeIII as long as they get better pings..

Anybody that I played with KNOWS QuakeIII was never about graphics.. it was all those freakin awesome mid air rockets :D
 
As Computer Gaming World once so aptly put it - "Quake 3 will be deathmatches' chance to go out with a bang rather than a whimper."

It's hard to market a classic deathmatch game to a mainstream audience anymore when everyone has been exposed to the Battlefield series and now TF2.

EU servers are full of cheaters or CA players (or both) so no chance to play here.

no it's hopeless... there are PLENTY of hardcore players trying out the beta. we also had a 1000 comment thread going on over at ESR for suggestions for QL. this was posted by SyncError (id's PR guy) himself. most of the stuff wasn't implemented.

polls, petitions etc seem to be useless.

If they haven't implemented feedback collected by their employee, there's nothing to look forward to I guess... will check it out when I receive an invite, without expecting much.
