CPU/Mobo RAM prices

Whats with RAM prices?

I bought Transcend 2GB DDR2 800 RAM for abt 1150 bucks in early 2009. Now when i want 2 GB more i see quotes of 2400 - 2800 ????

Is it true? How come?
 
^^ this is true , you will get the value rams from Gskill,Corsair & other brands starting from 2.2K
AFAIK ddr3 has now become mainstream & low availabilty of ddr2 made it costly

its not like investing in gold ,that will surely go up in future...

Its like investing in share market,it may rise or may fall...........

it is quite normal with PC peripherals especially RAM, same thing happened when ddr2 replaced ddr in 2005-06.

can't be compared with gold at all as the prices will fall drastically when the hardware become obsolete.
