I cant stand 99% of the Romcoms, or rather all of them

That's how I think of them as well. They mostly end up being the same old shit recycled with the right dose of romance, guessable plot lines, predictable characters... ... ... which is not what I like or recommend either ;)

"High Fidelity (2000)" is a movie I suddenly remembered.

Will catch up "Mr. Nobody" next week. Seems very interesting. Thanks for the reco.

Chungking Express, In the mood for love and 2046 these three I've had for a long time, I was just confused over whether I should first watch "In the mood for love" and then "2046" or vice versa. I've been delaying watching these three movies for a long time.

First, "In the mood.." then "2046"... that's how the unofficial trilogy goes.

It is much better than the Hollywood adaptation.

You can say that for most of the Hollywood adaptations ;). I always stick to the originals - way better! Somehow when converting cross cultural elements and adding Hollywood's own slight dumbing down, most adapted movies aren't what they are supposed to be.

I Wish I had a Wife is probably the most pleasant korean romcom I've seen. Most of the Kim Ki Duk movies are excellent (3-iron, time, the isle, spring summer, bad guy, samaria, the bow, coast guard, address unknown) but the newer ones are absolutely horrendous. Time has the most brilliantly executed twist of any movie I've seen though it doesn't otherwise match up to Isle/3-iron.

Btw, Once would also count as a great offbeat romantic movie apart from few having really good songs; I liked it more than Before/After Sunrise.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, Seems like I've a lot of movies to watch now

BTW anybody here who has seen What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Lost in translation or Magnolia? Are these worth the time?

I vaguely remember "Gilbert Grape". I thought it was good back then. But, you should note that I was mostly staying with Hollywood movies back then, so I can't say that I'll like it the same now. I did not like "Lost in Translation" that much, though I generally like Bill Murray.

BTW, just finished "3-Iron". Don't miss it!
