^ lol sabby , u reading reviews by newegg n00bs , see the reviews which mention mobo , one guy using it with 790i which is normal ATX mobo :P

even haf 932 is E-atx supported but im using it with ATX mobo :)

RoBoGhOsT said:
^ yes they do support atx and micro atx mobos also :) E-ATX is same length as ATX but just around 2 inch wider .

~3 inches longer/deeper. The dimension of a motherboard from the front to the back I/O panel is referred to as its length or depth. The other dimension is referred to as its width.

I thought so.. but read the 2nd review of the second link(Newegg.com - LIAN LI PC-V2100BPlus II Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases) provided by the OP.

The 2nd review was actually a person asking about it. As Robo said, there was another review with a regular ATX board.

Need some help here,

I want to buy an uber cool gaming computer for my boyfriend.

I have already looked around over the internet, result is that now i know, buying something like that directly off the shelf is not possible at least here in Delhi.

Custom built computer system is the only solution.

I want to know, where to start.

Pls keep in mind, that i need something that doesn't require any updates at least for an year. It should be able to play any game in the best possible manner. It should look sublime.

Help me all you gizmo freaks.

I had customize an Alienware PC to max, it came around 10k (5 lacs in INR). I dont have that much, thats almost my 6 months salary. I will be happy, if it manages to remain under half of that, 5k USD (2.5 lacs in INR).

I use to think that desktops are cheaper than laptops.

Wow. Lucky boyfriend.

Since you have quite a big budget, go water cooling.

In your core components, select the following:

(slightly edited from Sidhu's post)

Motherboard: DFI LP-UT X58-T3EH8 / ASUS Rampage II Extreme x58 / EVGA X58 Classified / Gigabyte EX58-UD5

Processor: Intel Core i7 920 D0 - 14.8k

Cooling:
Petra'sTech CoolKit Extreme - Rev.3 (water cooling) / else CoolerMaster V10 (air)

RAM: Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600 TR3X6G1600C8D 2GB x 3

GPU: wait for the Radeon HD 5870 to launch 5 days from now x 2

HDD: Western Digital 640 GB Black
x 4 / Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB x 2

Cabinet: Corsair Obsidian 800D Cabinet / Silverstone TJ07

SMPS: Corsair HX850

Optical Drive: Samsung SH-S22F SATA - 1.1k

Speakers: Logitech Z-5500 5.1Ch - 18k

Sound Card: Asus Xonar DX - 4.5k / Auzentech X-Fi prelude

Monitor: Dell U2410 32k / Dell 2209WA - 16k

Keyboard: Razer Lycosa 4.2k

Mouse: SteelSeries Ikari Optical - 3.9k

Get the components, try sourcing most of the stuff locally. SMC, Nehru Place is what I'd advise and they'll even assemble the rig for you for free.

Ok guys, i sort of find out the answer to my question myself. I asked my boyfriend, pretending someone in my office wants to buy a really expensive PC. Here is what he told me to suggest:

Asus P6T Deluxe V2, Intel Core i7 950, OCZ 6GB Ddr3 , Nvidia GeForce GTX 295, HT Omeg Claro Halo with built-in hi-fi Headphone Amp, Intel 160GB X25-M+WD 2TB, Pioneer BDR-203, Corsair 850TX, Cooler Master HAF 932, Dell 3007WFP, Logitech Z-5500+Sennheiser Pc161.

Is there anything that we can replace to make it any better?
I am sure, the cabinet sucks. Will go for Lian-li cabinet, the one i talked about earlier. Apart from that, is there anything?

^ asus P6T is not good , go for gigabyte EX58-UD5 or DFI UT8

rest of the config seems great , go ahead with his choice :P

HAF 932 is great , girls might not like the looks but its cooling is great and very roomy also .

For gaming an X-Fi based sound cards like Auzentech Forte may be better. X-Fi based cards have CMSS3D Headphone feature for virtual surround on headphones and its supposedly better than Dolby Headphone. But its your BF's choice in the end.

For PSU, I would recommend the Corsair HX850 over the TX850. HX850 has a modular cable design and cable management would be a lot easier in the cabinet. The TX850 would be a mess of cables.

For headphones, you might what to go for something better than that Sennheiser PC161. But then again its your BF's choice.

thanks for the suggestions,

Which of these i wont be able to buy in Delhi/India?

About the cabinet, if i didnt like the looks then it somewhat defeats the purpose. Looks is all that i have in this for me, But if the performance difference between HAF 952 and top of the line lian li cabinet is too large, then i wont mind going for Haf 952 that much.

Also, can you please give some idea about the price so that i dont get looted.

for Lord Nemesis,
No No dude, Its not his choice that i want to go by. If you know something better, Pls let me know. I have to prove my point to him.
So Auzentech Forte will replace what, i guess this "HT Omeg Claro Halo with built-in hi-fi Headphone Amp". Corsair HX850 in place of TX850. For headphones, tell me whats better that you ware talking about.

For waseem46,
The name is Tanya,
"Tanya, u rock"
well, thank you but i know:ohyeah::ohyeah:

if u go for haf 932 , get some good 120mm fans instead of black 230mm on top and side , then it looks and performs much better , check these pics of my haf 932 with xigmatek white led fans fited , rest of the config as in my signature .

i7 950???

Not worth the xtra 10k over a i7 920.

GTX295??? HD5000 is coming in 3 weeks, or lesser.

Well RoBoGhOsT,

i really appreciate your efforts, i wont mind if you feel like killing me but i didnt like that.

No lights for me, no side transparent thing. i must say that your cabinet looks a hell of a lot cleaner from inside. Dont you need all those pipes to keep your PC cool?

N how about getting some spray paint, n painting this thing from inside?

comp@ddict,

Dont confuse me now, i have made up my mind. Things keep coming n they always will.

:P the cpu cooler helps to keep cpu cool when overclocked , i am running 2.66ghz core i7 at 4ghz . i dont know if ur bf will overclock or not , but there is no harm in getting a good cpu cooler as it will run much cooler .

cabby looks clean because all cables are routed from behind the motherboard tray :) , HAF has good cable management and very roomy .

if u dont like bling bling then keep the stock fans which have no LED .

What comp@ddict says is correct. Its better to stick to a i-7 920 and wait for the DX11 cards as they will be released within the end of the month.

Yeah, it seems like he does, cooling is usually the problem with his PC. but i am not getting any of that problematic stuff. I was just amazed, that you dont use that knida things, given than you know some much about computer hardware.

I am getting Lian li cabinet, thats period. All of them look so cool.
