Reliance Jio Rollout

Its worth going for Jio (other than free months) only if you spend more than 500 on current provider. Else you'll find very little use for Jio unless they bring an intermediate plan between 149 & 499. My current plan with Vodafone at 250 + tax offers more voice calls than i use and 500MB data, mostly i never exceed either. So all these plans seem mostly useless. Also bear in mind the necessary upgrade to a 4G phone. In the whole thing only the 149 plan will be useful cause extra GBs will cost 50 bucks.

Night time is 2am to 5am for free usage. LOL

Also the plans are 28 days. So to count final monthly cost multiply by 13, add 16% tax and then divide by 12. The 499 plan costs Rs 627 monthly after tax and normalization to calendar month. If people actually go for their plans, especially 499 and above plan for the VFM that it offers, then JIO's ARPU will be much higher than other operators. IMO, AVoID cartel will easily manage to come up with better plans sub 499.

There is another plan. The 299 2gb. Works out to 399/28 days 2.6gb.

And i think these prepaid plans include tax.

Another very important factor is unlimited calling. Something most of us can't even compute right now. Because it's unprecedented and we're used to calculating internet plans based on rs/gb not rs/gb+ free calls[DOUBLEPOST=1472758375][/DOUBLEPOST]Night i think they want people to queue downloads and burst download them for 3 hours at 10000000000mbps or wtf they get in reality.

^ lol not even for 5 grand a month. jo bhi karna hain 3 ghante mein karo. good for graveyard shift guys...

Everyone is talking about unlimited calls. We are yet to see how volte is working when the network is conjusted . The jio join app on my redmi note 4g disconnects frequently and calls drop often. This has nothing to do with interconnects as the call connects and drops in between a call . So the pure 4g network for voice still needs to be tested for reliability . Also I used my jio in 2 different 4g phones for downloading and there are frequent data disconnects there too while keeping the phone on the window sill . This rarely happens on my tata docomo and Vodafone phones .

Volte Jio to Jio is amazing no drops crisp voice quality, Agree Jio join is buggy and it disconnects from network on a non volte phone coz the connection is not stable on a non volte phone.

Usr it on a Volte phone and you will never face any disconnection or call drops..

Am I the only person who is not happy with both the plans and Jio's strategy?

The postpaid plan that I now use costs me ₹222 + taxes with 800 mins calling, 500MB 2G & 200 SMS + CUG.

I could never exceed 800 mins in a month and the 2G is enough for occasional Whatsapp & Uber because I have WiFi at home.

Now I'll have to shell out ₹299 + taxes but my monthly calling will still be under 800 mins and 4G will be used up much faster that 2G, so I am not sure if 4GB would last 28 days. And again 28 day plans?

An unlimited calling will only choke their network. Instead they should have offered limited but large amount of calling.

The bandwidth required for voice calls on a IP network is far less that you would expect. Hence its difficult to choke the network just by calling. Yes, downloads might. Currently you dont use more that 500 MB because of the slow 2G. When you get 4G, its upto you how you use it. If you still only use 4G for whatsapp and uber, you will not spend more, Plus you will get better call quality than 2G

^^ +1
jioplay (tv), jiomag these two apps are pretty good. People will surely use more data once they get a taste of it even if you are not heavy downloader.

Agree on other parts except for call quality. On 2G /3G even on say weak signals (2 or 3 bars of signal) you get good call quality. On JIO even in 4G coverage I have issues with call quality. The person on other end says I sound like an old radio station. That needs to change. The only problem for me today with JIO is I cannot use it as my primary calling no. Network is available almost everywhere and data services is also good(most of the times) At times the data is connected but one cannot stream even a normal youtube video or FB page. This is not acceptable is I want to use it as my primary no.
IMHO the plans are nothing much to go gaga about. Its the same as on other international all LTE networks. Only costing low than that.
And AGAIN 28 days????? :banghead:
