Review Review + 15 Days With Xiaomi Red MI 1S

Synopsis :
waiting ...
Review:
Let's have a small history first. My old phones are Sony Ericsson T78i then Huawei U5510. Then I started development nokia and BlackBerry only and I won Nokia asha 510 and BlackBerry Q10.
Before using Xiaomi Red MI 1S I have used BlackBerry Q10 for a year. And I love it. Definitely Xiaomi Red MI 1S is my backup phone. My path to try Android first. Also I Have good hands on Apple iPhone 4S, Nexus 4.

15 days:
Day 1 (+ve)
First impression is phone built quality is good. Never feels like local brand feels like well built phone.

Interface is good, smooth, reminds iOS 6 every time.

Many tweaks add on in os. In built WPS office app. Works God. Writing this text on WPS text editor with swift keyboard. I came from BlackBerry Q10. So definitely compare keyboard and writing experience. Security app is collection of good software. Clean master, Anti virus, permission app are well integrated in security app.

Tell them you cannot use this phone with exchange corporate mail, fails at encryption stage. It's a known bug at one of the top 10 issues with this phone.

52 degree is too low my friend how you manage 52 degree ? I am mostly at over 57 degree also touches at 72 yes 72

Most of the times, my phone doesnt even cross 35C with whatapp/camera and email. Maximum i have seen is 44-47. Not a very heavy user though. Just using it for whatapp/gmail/gtalk and camera most times and sometime use kindle or small games like 2048.

If flipkart is refusing the return the phone, you might want to check with them for warranty service. 67 C is not something normal

.

My phone's CPU temp stays between 35-43 with 3-4 background apps, I too think 67 is pretty high.
But he cannot say to flipkart that rooted and under clocked and still problem is not solved.
Flipkart has already rejected his request of replacement so now the solution if successful is for using the phone in day to day life

This is wrong on flipkart's part . After all they have a 30 day return policy . They must accepr it and offer the op either a refund or replacement as per his wish .

On what ground did Flipkart reject the replacement request? They usually do follow the '30 Day Replacement Gurantee' for anything sold under WS Retail... are they not considering that policy for the Xiaomi phones?

I don't know because its not my phone which is facing the problem, you need to ask JPUSHKARH for the same
Flipkart send me tutorial how to restore phone to factory mod. And reject my return request.

Since FK is not taking your phone back. I suggest you to try this http://en.miui.com/thread-45608-1-1.html

Installation:

1-Install TWRP
2 Make a backup of the rom that we currently have in case something goes wrong
3 Perform wipe data (Only if you come from another version of rom)
4 Reflash the rom
5- Reflash the gapps wipe
6- Make dalvik cache and cache (Only if on another release)
7- Reset Credits: fefifofum Changelog: https://github.com/armani -dev / androi ... 11.0-Changelog Sources: https://github.com/armani-dev

Credit all goes here, and to the original developer:

EDIT: Seems to be still in development. But better than the Stock ROM which is practically ruining the experience.

Please do this at your own risk.

Flipkart is rejecting return requests left, right and centre.
A friend of mine bought the Dell Venue 8 15-20days ago. There is a major problem with touchscreen response and constant freeze ups. They told her to do a factory reset and cancelled her return request. Factory reset dis not help. She put in another return request. They said they will call her back by a specified date. They have not called back yet.

Thank-you for posting this. I will definitely keep this in mind before ordering from Flipkart in future. Really sad to see that they are rebuking their 30 day replacement policy this way. I actually ordered a Cowon DAP from them a couple of days ago and it's being shipped through eKart as I type this. I did call Cowon before buying it from Flipkart though and was told that should anything go wrong with the DAP I would need to directly contact/ ship it to Cowon India in Mumbai since it's directly being sold by Cowon India through Flipkart and not being handled by WS Retail.

Heating problem is now justified.
Xiaomi cheated Indian users, CPU Z shows MSM8226 chipset of Snapdragon S400 in Indian phones which is clocked at 1.6ghz, which is unstable for this chip set.
While in Moto G, chipset have same MSM8226and its clocked to 1.2Ghz(stable for this).
They didn't give MSM8228(hardware) which can be clocked to 1.6ghz and stable, instead they tweaked software to give 1.6ghz on old MSM8226 and thats why we are feeling the heat.

I think we should wait for MIUI 6 for this problem should be resolved by limiting CPU freq. to 1.2/1.3Ghz or you can do it urself by rooting/flashing.

Other international versions are having MSM8228 , so no heating problem.

As long as MIUI 6 doesn't come for Redmi 1S we can root and underclock it to avoid the heating problems, and as far the cheating goes Xiaomi knows that Indians are crazy behind the phone at this price so :(

The primary issue with this phone is Memory leak, the free RAM reduces every hour and at the end of day apps start crashing.
I had configured back key LONG press to kill APP, still memory leak after a day.
