Brace yourselves, fellas, for October will be one hell of a month for the mobile industry. The next iPhone will break cover on 4th, HTC will follow up with a phone of their own on the 6th and now we have confirmation that Google's next flagship will be announced a week later - on October 11th. Yeap, we are just two weeks away from seeing the Samsung-made Nexus Prime.
The Korean company has already sent-out the invitations for the Unpacked event, which will be held at the CTIA expo and will be co-hosted by Google. And that might mean just one thing - it will be the event that will see the introduction of Android Ice cream sandwich and its first bearer - the Nexus Prime.
This also aligns nicely with the lengthy video demo of new Android version that we saw this morning. The platform seemed in pretty good shape on that demo, so it should be ready to hit the stage.
And it's not just the new reincarnation of the world's best-selling popular OS that deserves attention. The Samsung Nexus Prime should be a pretty hot piece of technology itself with its rumored 4.65" HD Super AMOLED screen and powerful Exynos chipset with a couple of 1.5 GHz CPU cores.
October seems like the month that will set the tone for the next year or so in the smartphone race.

I’m trying everything in my power to keep my composure right now but — WE FINALLY HAVE THE FIRST GLIMPSE AT THE SAMSUNG Nexus Prime !! Samsung has just uploaded a teaser video for their upcoming Google announcement at this year’s Unpacked 2011 event being held at CTIA in San Diego, CA. Aside from being overly charming (and cleansing our palates of today’s earlier announcement) at the very end of the video we finally get a side-view of what we believe to be the Samsung Nexus Prime. You can see a Nexus S style curved display (video adds extra emphasis with blue accent) and 3 gold contact pins cluing us in that a dock will also be accompanying the device.

Go nuts. Tell all your friends. Slap yo momma. Something BIG is coming!
UPDATE: Came across a bigger, clearer pic taken from the video for you guys (click a total of 2 times for full high resolution image). I messed around with the contrastof 2 super imposed images of the device from when the shine revealed both the top and bottom of the phone. This gives us a much better look at the Nexus Prime’s form factor. You can see, the curve isn’t as dramatic as the blue line suggests. Much more mild like the Nexus S. I don’t know about you guys, but it looks a lot like a curved Nexus One and to me, that is a very good thing.

Battery :( hope this battery is atleast 3/4th of my Nokia 5800 XM , and Samsung will have my money for this.

Please dont compare Nokia phone with Android phone. Atleast compare some smartphone.

Lol... you might be a fanboid.. but definately cant beat Nokia in build quality + battery life + camera... only OS can never make phone run and give a VFM :)

Man but you are comparing a non smartphone with smartphone ! What kind of comparison is that ?

There are 100s of things which 5800 doesnt have and Android have but those are non comparable since category is different.

Everyone knows Android needs better power management.5800 was considered smartphone 3 years ago.

Buddy we are discussing and not fighting and I dont think there is any harm in that. Anyways, comparison of 3 year's old phone with future phone, good :)

After a long time I am excited about an android device. Hope the display is not too curvy as the video makes it out to be. And also hope that Samsung launches the SAME version (read SAMOLED not s-LCD) in India.

Some leaks r suggesting it has 5MP cam and OMAP 4460 :( ... Damn I was expecting new sammy 16MP backlit cam and 1.5 GHz Dual core EXYNOS :(

I guess i'll go for the S2 instead then. A good camera is a must, even though megapixels aren't everything. The 4.65" size is also IMHO tooooo big.
