Guys I have just got a Wave- fortunate to get a virtually new piece. Need help please suggest'

For screen protector- which one- from where.

Need a leather flip case too

is ZAGG InvisibleSHIELD Samsung Wave - Maximum Coverage- useful- is it worth Rs. 1499 asked price

Please guide.
I am using the standard scratch guard frm Alfa, Mumbai for Rs.250/-. No problems since sep. No need of expensive protectors, we anyways chg r phone every 2 yrs atleast, so std will do just fine.

Leather flip case is your choice, but again as companies try to make the phone as slim as possible, adding xtra cover only spoils the show. But again its ur preference. I just use a simple hanging rope to make sure the Wave doesnt slip & fall as the metallic body is very smooth.

Details for Bada 2.0 emerge, new UI and NFC in store

Samsung allowed a quick glimpse at what's in store for the next generation of their own smartphone OS. Bada OS 2.0 will have an improved UI, NFC support, an ad gateway and other improvements, including plenty of work under the hood.

Changes to the user interface promise personalization, a "smart" homescreen, layout management (whatever that is) and animation effects. Multitasking and security will get upgrades in Bada 2.0 as well.

By the looks of it, Samsung is positioning Bada to be a good alternative to Android - and iOS too. Third-part SNS integration and push notifications make the list as do text-to-speech and speech recognition.

Curiously, NFC (which is experiencing a resurgence with the Samsung-made Google Nexus S) is also included in the plans for the second major version of the self-titled smartphone for the masses.

Operating billing and ad gateway are major additions too. There are no details given, but "ad gateway" sounds like a Samsung-branded alternative to iAds and Google's Mobile Ads.

Bada is growing - more than 5 million Wave phones are expected to be sold by the end of the year and plans for next year include a much faster pace. Samsung's projections expect more than 10 million Bada phones to be sold in the first half of 2011.

Whether or not old devices will be updated to Bada OS 2.0 remains to be seen - the lines in the second slide certainly raise more questions than they answer.

Hey guys,

Borrowed a wave from my brother...

Model No :- GT-S8500

S/W Version :- Bada 1.0

1005251952LIS8500DDJE7

Tried download 'Dictionary' using KIES but I am facing an error. Tried other free softwares and facing "package faulty" error.

What might be the problem ? - In my profile it displays the country as "United Kingdom" - Can that be an issue ?

2nd Problem :-

I am unable to use GPRS with my Wave ? - Few weeks back I configured my Home WIFI settings in Wave and then-onwards anytime there is a need to go online. It asks to turn on the Wifi. If I cancel that then there is no option to use GPRS instead. Even when Wifi is not in range, it asks for Wifi and then cancels it. So how do i configure my Wave to use GPRS instead of Wifi.

Regards,

Hi ppl,

I have 2 waves s8500 ( mine and my wife's) and have installed Kies on my laptop.

I have bought some games using my credit card and can install only on my mobile.
I cannot install it on my wife's mobile. Maybe I am entitled to install in one mobile only!!

Also, free games downloaded cannot be installed on both the mobiles. I dont want to download again and install it.

Is there a way out of it like changing the registry or something ( Is there a way to tell Kies that i am using the same mobile rather than it recognising 2 different waves )

waiting for your Valuable suggestions.

Can you try downloading the apps directly to the phone? By signing in to the account from under social hub?

can any1 confirms me the maximum 3g speed of s8500. when i purchased the phone, i have seen many blogs and specs site including gsmarena which lists the 3G @ 7.2mbps, and now its showing 3.6mbps, yesterday did a speed test on my wave which i can access speeds upto 3.2mbps and around 5mbps with lg p500 :(

samsung wave s8500 is upto hsdpa 7.2 mbps and hsupa 2 mbps.... there r some confusion regarding this and the reason behind this is whenevr u r conncting/tethering ur 3g connection of ur phn to ur comp in the lappy it will always show the max spd of the tower of ur servc provdder... whereas if u use a data card/usb modem it will show the max spd of the device/modem in the lappy...

as exampl i reside in kolkata.. whenevr tether my bsnl 3g to my lappy it always shows 3.6 mbps becoz my nearest tower of bsnl is max 3.6 mbps supported..

but whenvr i tether with my reliance 3g to my lappy it shows 7.2 mbps.....

u r getting 3.6 mbps becoz not of wave but for the servc provider u r using...

I posted the same problem on this thread: http://www.techenclave.com/mobile-phones/samsung-wave-s8500-india-release-168692-91.html#post1664216

I am 100% sure that in my case its not dependent on the tower speeds as i was getting 3.6mbps max with wave and when i put the same sim at same location in a nokia c5 i got 6-7 mbps speeds, so either all the samsung waves have 3.6mbps modems or some phones may also have 7.2mbps modem.
