Samsung Wave S8500 India release

I posted the same problem on this thread: http://www.techenclave.com/mobile-phones/samsung-wave-s8500-india-release-168692-91.html#post1664216

I am 100% sure that in my case its not dependent on the tower speeds as i was getting 3.6mbps max with wave and when i put the same sim at same location in a nokia c5 i got 6-7 mbps speeds, so either all the samsung waves have 3.6mbps modems or some phones may also have 7.2mbps modem.

i can also confirm u that wave has 7.2 mbps radio.... i will post some screenshots later

Kies 2.0 released.Completely revamped design. SnapNGo and some other apps have updates but require bada 1.2 for the update to take place. So the firmware update should be right round the corner.

Did you even read the post which you have quoted?? read it once again, your wave might have a 7.2 mbps radio but its not the same with all the waves, some people have got 3.6mbps and some 7.2 mbps.

Just found out, you are limited to 10 pages of applications including the default ones. Tried to install a new application but got the message maximum number of installed applications reached!:(

Why are the number of applications I want to install limited!

samsung also updating UI to TouchWiz 3.5, menu can be scrolled vertically also now instead of regular horizontal :D, also we can set background in menu, just waiting for official release as its not leaked yet :p..

btw please confirm the 3G thing :X :(

^^

Thanks for the info. :)

BTW Samsung Kies 2.0 is working perfectly with my wave [Bada 1.2 F/W]. Just downloaded and installed a few apps. No issues so far.

hello everyone.... just got my new samsung wave II s8530 :) my third phone! previoulsy used samsung D840 for almost 4yrs!!
Used it for the past 3hrs or so, oh yeah i did wanna post in the waveII thread but all the posts there are mere speculative n very old so i thought i would post here as ths thread is more updated n the other reason being as soon as s8500 gets bada 1.2 both the waves will be practicaly same save fot the screen size*n yeah type!*
These are my initial opinions of my phone, also i will have some queries too :)
1. Screen- Its absolutely gorgeous and i love the size! For all those who want to keep talking about the superamoled vs sclcd, well check out gsmaena user opinions of waveII... man you will find your doubts getting cleared and well even more doubts will get added!! So which is better? well honestly superamoled plus!! whites are actually white and colour reproduction looks natural. really it is superamoled taken to another level! sclcd and superamoled have their own pros n cons but as its subjective its best left for the user to decide!
2.Music- Its very soon to talk about the headset supplied with the phone so instead i tried my motorola sn snoop bt headset which has mannnnny hrs of burn in lol now i have tried it on my friens wave n i can say its sounds louder on waveII with efects being rock and music clarity*best combo imho* and it sounds pretty good... my D840 was louder too and sounded real good as well*yeah surprising but thats why i had it for so loong. even n95 and costly phones sounded weak on s9*
3. Internet- well didnt try on s8500 but here i am little bit worried even though i have 3.7 inches of real estate! why? becoz when i touch the screen the address bar pops up and theres nothing i can do about it! its very annoying! and compared to opera mini experience on my D840 the dolphin browser v2.2 here is actually slower!!!! i also went on google images n only the 1st thumbnail came up but the rest were absolutely blank! the phone already had bpl loop settings but the phone automatically fetched new settings n asked for them ot be installed.... mms wap and internet.... its automatically latched to wap.... is that correct? or should it be on internet?
4. Games... havent tried coz it might get lil overwhelming so takin it slowly... might die of happiness lol
since few i had been downloading apps and thank god now i can install nfs shift, bruce lee, asphalt, kroll for free! all of which now are gone or prices exorbitantly! btw shud i bother with mdnie?
5.biggest issue- the icons in media gallery, music player n that lone single image in google image search were really blurry.... looked bad. Hope samsung has it fixed in the coming software updates!
6. t9 trace- like swype! same like on galaxy s... keyboard wihtout it is very responsive and the right keys get registered something that i couldnt on s8500.... but trace too will take time to learn a bit coz i guess we moslt type with hindi n english.... i am not sure if it saves the hindi words however!
7. camera- good and fast whatelse
8.battery seems good, initially there was almost no charge but in 15 min it had 60% charge... yeah never trust the numbers but i was playing around with for 2-3 hrs on that alone! and it still showed charge!
9.gps- i didnt try coz i dnt have clear understanding of it yet.... havent downloaded the indian maps and dnt know how to use route 66.... coz i never tried! i will but.... is it possible to use the map and yet save on the network costs? just keep network enable off right? but hows the response then?
10. cant think of something particular but i will keep posting about it
btw i got it for 16990 and its mettalic black even though i wanted ebony grey but wadever m happy :)

i am facing a huge problem! for few months i had been downloading all the once upon time free samsung apps which arent free anymore in the hope that i would finally buy the wave so i finally did and right now i connected to kies2.0 and the waveII got detected but when i went to the my downloads section*which has around 800 mb of apps i had downloaded over time* all of them appeared greyed out!! kies isnt allowing me to install them as the apps arent supported! how is that possible?? even those like the little sailor game from the developer challenge which i downloaded for samsung waveII exactly even thats greyed out!
what should i do?? asphalt, nfs shift, kroll n bruce lee all are gonna go waste! how can samsung do this?

Thts how Kies works....... u need to hav the phone connected while downloading those apps....... so they get registered for ur phone and will install on only ur phone......

They will stay in the download section but u wont be able to install them on any other Wave.....

Since u downloaded them without the phone..... all those apps r unregistered and rendered useless.....

well thats not true you know.... i forgot to mention that 3 apps werent greyed out... they were two themes stoney and black glass alongwith piano app called beethoven, they werent greyed out and were installable!!

it contradicts what you have told about kies. What i cant understand is how can kies do that?

i have a feeling that its cause that i downloaded those two off kies 2.0 while the rest were from the older versions.... so kies 2.0 isnt ready to detect the the apps downloaded off the older kies as installable.... theres no register thing here at all coz i never downloaded with my waveII connected! Damn it doesnt samsung understand backward compatibility??

any shortcuts anybody has? if at all?
