Thanks guys! :)

dheerajjotwani - Yes saw that too, but went for debian as I think it has a better repository and apps. :)

Btw came accross a good http downloader with webinterface - pyLoad - Download Manager - pyLoad :) Supports many file sharing hosts like rapidshare, megaupload etc too. Trying it out now! :)

Actually the Guruplug is still with me. They will be sending a modification kit which includes a fan to reduce the heat etc. So waiting for that.

Gaurish - I think you'll get a 15% off coupon when you signup for a new account. :)

Awesome Vivek! Many congrats. :D

OT - Btw will you be at Chennai or Cochin this 28th? I am dropping in at Cochin on 26th to hang around with my school friends so I might pay youa visit if you are around and it's OK with you. A mini Cochin meet sorts hehe. :P

well there are a few elementary things you need to prep yourself with before you delve into modding any such device. almost all these devices run on some port of linux or the other... which perhaps makes it possible to apply common practices in making lee way into their architecture. read a bit on the basic linux environment, file systems supported etc... if you can try your hand at using ubuntu as dual boot... learning by discovering is the best way... forums always have solutions out of every problem...

trust me it looks very difficult to comprehend in the beginning... perhaps because you trying to assimilate the act of modding (usually high level advanced stuff) when even basic knowledge is naught... i have no background of linux either... experimenting helps...

@ Gaurish... please share the quote you get... a few friends i have might be interested too... we can have a go here collectively

The eBay link they provide is only for a single item, so you can't place multiple orders with the same eBay link.

I definitely agree with dheerajjotwani. At first look it may look slightly difficult, but once you get used to it, you'll find that its actually pretty easy. Just follow the instructions and you'll be good to go. The easiest guide I found is by Jeff which I linked earlier.

But its applicable only for GEB. ICC World lists the item directly in eBay and the present prices on GEB are pathetic. :P

I got this quote from ICC for Dockstar:

  • Item price + local shipping + taxes: Rs. 1,880.64
  • Int'l Shipping: Rs. 480.00
  • Duty, Taxes & fees:Rs. 394.36

TOTAL: Rs. 2,755.00/-

Price is quite high. Any one has any coupons I could use?

I got these
Quote for 1
Rs. 2,750.00

Item price + local shipping + taxesRs. 1,890.77
Int'l Shipping Rs. 480.00
Duty, Taxes & fees Rs. 379.23
TOTAL Rs. 2,750.00

Quote for 5
Rs. 12,865.00

Item price + local shipping + taxesRs. 9,404.19
Int'l Shipping Rs. 1,632.00

Yeah i was under the impression that we can ask the ICC guys to ship the individual Docks to appropiate individuals. But i guess they will ask for a higher fee in that case. I dont know  . I guess if you have coupons it makes more sense to buy it individually,
