Sify reduces rates

Yeh well you could say so, but ive seen like in some of my frnds places where they have 256 k data one, they get speeds of 40KBps to 50 during that time, so ultimately i guess its all the same, coz sify will never ever give anything above 32 at any time of the day.

Hmm never crosses 32k avg for me though the peak goes to 40 sometimes but the avg boils down to 32kb/sec. well the free hours duration seems longer and also 150mb limit seems better than 33mb limit.

Some part of the country??? I stay in Mumbai.. in Andheri.. and no airtel.. no sify.. infact no isp other than MTNL provides 256 kbps in my area!! :(

I was talking about bsnl. Never got 50 on bsnl 256k line. maybe your friend is using 512k line.

Thats wat initially some of us thought, but then it happened with 3 of them and they were all on 256 k. So cant be mere coincidence.
 
I am on sify 256K plan.

I loose like 5 days minimum every month.

But i have no other option. In my area ther eis no exatt, no TATA, no hathway. Because aparantly for these ISPs my location is not justified for operation.

So its either sify or pacenet.

And i would rather have unlimited download from 10pm to 8am than 48KBps POS or 64K unlimited at 950/month from pacenet.

calculate and you will come to know i can download more in 10 hours of 256K than 24 hours of 64K. and i get really good speeds on sify, great pings to play online games. and 150MB is enough from browsing and gaming during daytime for me. And i download after 10 :P
 
Thats wat... thats exactly what i was saying, well anyway funky do you know of any indian cs 1.6 servers, i keep getting booted out of the uk ones.

Only way to make ISP like Sify learn is to subscribe them off and put them at a loss. Even with Airtel and Hathway with reasonable unlm tariffs these guys don't learn and still have capped plans.

for one, its the cheapest 'broadband' u cud get in India.
for two, i dont need to pay extra for a phone which i wont use :P
three, i am online at nights and download only at nights..
four, (most important of all) there are a couple of browsing centres/cafes hookes up to the server.. so i get to play CZ with as many as 20 guys at one time.. :P

Wow thats like a brilliant reason to get sify dude, play from your own home, much better than forking out 50 bucks everytime you want have a couple of matches. Accha So im in cal... you think I could also log onto those servers with my sify account? How do I do it?

naa.. all the browsing cafes n my comp are hooked (ultimately) to the same single Sify Gateway server .. hence we are all on LAN.. hehe.. calling it a WAN wud be more appropriate i think.. and yep, playing from home on my own uber l33t 6600 is much better than playing on "MX440(64-bit)-with-64MB-memory-dude!!!" :D
 
Heh, the cafes in your area and the home users use the same lan gateway? Brilliant(sarc). But like how'd you discover that you could actually do it?
 
Well Who Said that sify is the cheapest in the country ??? Well This is what airtel Offers : NO INSTALLATION CHARGES ! , I Got a free adidas bag worth rs 1000 , They Give a Caller ID Phone Free Which after 1 year is your property and oh yess there are no rentals for the phone !! The only thing I pay is 900 bucks for 256k unlimited connection !
