All 3 are duds because of the A/C cycle problem. :ashamed:

You've wait till seven members (excluding me is: 6) interested in getting the philips.
Seems like you're a silver spoon guy! Already having 3 Sony Clocks! :D:D

ok fine even i will buy it for TP :P
I have became very lazy

[OT] it was time i used to wake up early for football now i am awake till 2 am so cant wake up early .this will be helpful for sure .Also downloading software for time management from fruitfultime.co,m[/OT]

Will these clocks work on Battery power? In case there is a power outage, it defeats the purpose ?

Also if there are 10 people for Philips, what is the final price per individual ?

I can tell only after the above info is digested. :)

^ I too don't know about the pricing. I need atleast 10 confirmed orders to get the pricing for Philips Clock. For Sony, as I already mentioned in the thread if we get 10 orders, the pricing will be 1,350/-

No sir. I checked the Philips website and this doesn't work on Batteries. Battery Backup for saving your memory settings (such as alarm, radio freq etc). It will shut-off the clock/screen display, when using Battery mode.

So this is purely Mains Power Supply device.

There is battery backup also.
Quote from Philips site:

You can not run the clock+radio on a tiny 9V battery. For example when the display is showing 12:00, 21 segments of the display is lighting up. At a current of about 10mA per segment it will consume 210 mA for the display itself, add to that the current required for running the clock. If you run the radio too a lot of current will be consumed by the amplifier chip in the radio. So the total current consumption of the clock+radio in fully operational state will be around 750mA/ 0.75A. Using a non rechargeable battery will not be feasible in this case as it will drain the battery within half an hour and will be too costly. So, the battery is designed for backup only so that you do not lose time setting etc.

^^ Yeah - thats what the backup is intended for. You'll need to connect it to a UPS to keep it burning throughout !!!!

Besides, I dont think we have that many power cuts. As a fail safe measure, it does the job all right.

Folks, perhaps OT in this thread, but if your US
60Hz clocks use the LM8560/TMS3450 clock chip, the
attached circuit can be used to convert it to 50Hz.
It will keep time with battery, as it uses a crystal osc.

I have successfully converted a GE clock using this
chip, and it works fine on 50Hz.
This mod requires some electronics skills to understand
the LM8560 pin connections and wire in this circuit.
I cannot step you through it. Also, do it at your own risk.

You will still need to use 220-110V converter, unless
you change the power transformer inside the clock.
