It doesnt have sim slot its a CDMA Sprint phone. I can root it and unlock its bootloader to install custom ROM's but I want to know can it be used on Indian CDMA operators. Its shows International Roaming and shows network bar full with roaming sign also I am able to dial *228 and a reliance automated customer care activation call starts. I can use any carrier TATA docomo, RCOM or MTS unless they are able to make it work on their network. BTW I live in Mumbai. It shows network name as International with full coverage and network type as 1xRTT. I have attached images for reference and software versions.does it have sim slot?
if it has sim slot then it can be programmed to accept OMH sim.
if no sim slot then, you will have to get it programmed.
which carrier you use?
RCOM/tata docomo/ mts?
I have its MIN, PRL Version, ESN, MEID HEX, MEID Decimal, IMEI, CCID with me. What is MSL code is it from anyone mentioned here..?Their are cdma phones which have sim also.
Now for your case, you need to get it programmed for reliance.
Reliance is only carrier which still accepts foreign handsets and tata is next to impossible and mts is out of question as their network is cancelled.
You would need to get prl updated and reliance network settings installed on it after getting its msl code.
Your next step will be finding out its msl code.
Ok. I googled it and found that only original carrier will have the phones MSL. So I'll have to contact Sprint but don't know they will provide or not as I bought it on ebay but it has clean ESN. Do you any idea how to obtain it or can we hack the device for MSL.Those all stats are for int.roaming network values which wont hold true for reliance.
only ESN MEID will hold true.
MSL is master security lock code and you will need to find out same for your LG.
Ok. Is there any way to get around this like hacking device to show different ESN whos MSL is known so another cheap device with will loose its ESN and it will be used for this device.you wont get msl code from sprint so easily,as you are not their customer.
Yes right will need to check what can be done. Thanks a lot for the details. I will bring the device to reliance gallery and check what can be done. Not so.easy to.do transplant of.esn.
Their are many.issues like bootloader encryption and all.
Google is your friend.
I did this stuff for motorola photon and nexus s.
Its first time,I am seeing LG devices.
Google is your friend for msl code.
Hi thanks for that. I am going to visit RCOM gallery lets see if they can help or not. Will update what happened.reliance gallery will refuse the device as its not their branded or officially supported.
you may try but I wont keep high hopes on them.
their old true blue rcdma guys are replaced by naive and poor knowledge chaps.[DOUBLEPOST=1364478529][/DOUBLEPOST]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35103687

The reliance guy said he will try to activate it on their network but cant be for sure he will give a try.So what happened with reliance store visit ?
The reliance CSR said he will provide with new no. and all registration process by paying Rs.150 only. But I know he wont be able to register without MSN thats why didn't go for try. Currently Im trying to find its new firmware and Android 4.1.2 to root and unlock bootloader. You need to find the MSL or SPC without which you will not be able to activate the handset. The reliance store will not be helpful either. Once you have the SPC/MSL you can get the MEID registered with Reliance, which will cost Rs 500 or so.
Once that is done, you can visit the Reliance store to transfer the number or get a new connection.
