I always find myself needing an ultra portable computing device which will help me run everything a laptop can. So the obvious choice is a Windows 8 tablet.

I absolutely love what Surface Pro 3 has to offer but its costly and its not available and its a bit too large for a tablet.

I was looking around and the Dell Venue Pro 8 looks like a good choice. It has good build quality. But I am wondering if it too small and whether it is worth the price. Moreover it does not even have an optional keyboard accessory. What good is a windows tablet without a portable keyboard cover.

Are there any better options available? Should I wait for next generation of Windows 8.1 devices instead?

Looks fairly decent, better than decent actually. Its spec says battery backup 3 hours on flipkart?

How about an Asus Transformer?

Or may be a Lenovo Yogapad or whatever it is called. Basically, I think you should be looking at hybrid notebooks.

I have bought the T100 Transformer 64 GB one month back and to be honest it is pretty good.So far I have seen no lag while browsing the net and plays HD Youtube Videos just fine.I have not tinkered much with the Office Suite though.Only issue in my unit is some LCD backbleed which I can see while the tablet is booting up.

The problem with the Lenovo(Miix 2 10.1) is that you cannot change the angle of the display as it has no hinge. It has a FHD display though which is very good for video stuff but if you go into desktop interface in Win 8.1 while working in Laptop mode the writing in most cases will be so tiny you will have issues. The Transformer has a 768p display and on that too I have to squint to read filenames and stuff like that .

You can get it from this guy from whom I bought it also.

Thats double the price of a Pro 8 and does not sell here in India but indeed looks like a great machine.

Nope. I didn't want the keyboard either. :).

I just got a folio case, snap on original case and a skinomi full body protector for another 30 USD from ebay.

hp omni 10 or dell 8 . better to buy 10.1 because windows is not finger friendly with big screen you can navigate easily

Yep good point. In desktop mode a small screen would be hard to focus on while touching and may lead to squinting on a 8 inch screen. But then that mode would be used rather rarely now that the app scene on Windows Store is gradually improving.

^^I too have a very similar requirement. But I guess my budget is a bit more restricted. :(

Also, how do I get a tablet from Amazon.com or eBay.com?? I don't have any experience in importing stuff and also don't have a cc. :(
