Hi guys,

I really want to get a new power supply. I have looked around but am undecided. Also the last thread abt power supply become more of a pissing contest and no conclusive results were found.

But I want to be sure before taking a step. And I trust TE to guide me to salvation :D

So.... what are your thoughts about this: http://theitdepot.com/products.asp?prod=10695

Is is a good PSU?

My requirements:

- ESP12V (the 8 pin 12V Connector) so that it is compatible with most future motherboards.
- Not gonna do SLI/XFire ever (so i can assume a max of around 180W OCed draw from a Single GFX card)
- Dual Core (right now takes a hefty 200W+ load under dual load)
- 3 - 4 HDDs (mix of 10k and 7.2K rpm drivers, SATA)
- A mid range "Ok" sound card (Audigy 2 ZS or something)
- Loads of fans (around 20W load there)
- CCFLs.........

The NeoHE 550W and 500W also look good but the voltage drops seen in most reviews dont look that promising. And they are not in stock.

I want to buy it as soon as possible. Sooner the better.

Regards,

Karan

get it dude ..... its really nice and quite PSU ..... when i say quite i really mean it ..... and even with a 7800GTX and OCed venice its rock stable :) ..... even if u want to SLI it will do fine :) ... tho i don't think voltage control are really needed ..... but if u have money to spend extra on TC over TP i will say go for it .....

PS: actually i wanted this but when i purchased mine TC was not in stock :(

i am also very inclined to getting this............ can someone (that included u rahul :P) tell me how do the load rail voltages fair? i want to know it from someone in here.......

and i am getting a feeling this is not EPS12V complaint, only a 4-pin 12V connector.......

if only the NeoHE 550 was available here.

on Idle 12v rail is 11.90 and with max load that includes venice at 2.7Ghz and GTX 489/1350Mhz it is 11.84 ....

and wat i have found on net that its a ASUS and Antec problem actually ASUS show voltages a little low .... there is some problem with sensor ..... i have use DMM to chk the actual voltages :)

so u measured them to be 11.90 V at idle? Which rail did u measure? (since its a dual rail PSU)

also doesnt it look a bit on the lower side. its already below the 12V spec at idle and drops even lower (Vdroop of 0.06V)

i guess the truecontrol will allow the user to up the rails to specs again.... right?

rahul, what abt the EPS12V compatiblity?

i didn't measured them with a DMM .... i am just saying that ASUS software is wrong while reporting the voltages .... so i need to do it with DMM ....

Last week I went to Prime in Mumbai and was also looking for the TC 550 but as always - NOT IN STOCK - so I bought the TP2 550.

I get from the BIOS and ASUS Probe readings of 11.91 and 5.08 whilst a nice DMM I own shows from a Molex 12.04 and 5.12 - all readings on idle.

I have an ASUS P4C800ED mobo and an Intel 2.4C Northwood CPU.

Hmph.

I think the best bet is the TC 550W for you, its the same as the NeoHE 500W, but the NeoHE is coming to India on 23rd now. I dunno wtf is up. :@.

The NeoHE has the Pro's of a Modular and Sleeved Cabling, which catches my eye. Else i would have gone for the TP2550 myself.

yaar, NeoHE is fine and all (even it has the EPS12V support)..... however, it has a really weak 5V rail (20 A)............ all good things always hv a sore point.

so what to do? wait for NeoHE or go for TPII TC 550W?

I would ask you to also look at Zebby 640 Watt... Its a SkyHawk OEM and trust me its good... Funky is using same on his dual core system and he is gonna use a X1900XT on it... According to me its the best bang for buck PSU available in india...

I am using a Zebby 540 and i couldnt be happier with it... Even with Opty clocked to 2.9Ghz and 7800GT clocked to 490 the 12V line didnt go below 12 even at Priming and 3Dmarking... I am talking abt DMM check...

Man... 8k for a PSU, think again.

NeoHE 500 is more than enough and most of the reviews are with the older revision hence the issues. Ask Chaos, he bought 2 NeoHE 500's..

@ Switch - The Zebby deal suddenly looks kinda sad for 6.5k cause the NeoHE 500W is 6.2k ;)

hey switch...... is there any way i can buy the zebby 640 using a credit card? cuz i dont no cash right now so was planning to buying it from itdepot site using cc then sell my trusty 2 month old coolermaster and pay my relative......

EDIT: can u give me to the exact PSU ? the zebronics 640W......

How about the Vantec Ion2 460W. Only think i donno if its EPS12V or not. But for just over 3k its a tempting deal.

been using the tp2 550 for quite sometime. great psu & solid rails on load.

i think i had posted the 12v rails on the rthdr thread.

its always constant for me on 12.07 on idle & load with ocd cpu.

i think you should save some money & get the tp instead of the tc.

Well... I dont think its for 6500... I think its more like 5.5K(+ -)... Also you can talk to your local dealer there in bhuvneshwar... If he can source the same for you then maybe you can pay him with your CC... Problem Solved :)...

TC is more expensive than TP:)

Hmmm... If I remember right, we used the TC 550 in the rigs for all the DFI Launch events.

So why was I always told "OUT OF STOCK" by Prime in Mumbai - even last week. :(

I have NO issues with the TP2 550 - working quite perfectly... SO FAR .... TOUCH WOOD AND FINGERS CROSSED :)
