Sure. There is no specific timing here. This is not a paid full time job that you are gonna do. It is a voluntary thing, and you are at liberty to do your duties whenever possible. Just make sure that you can put in at least a few hours a day. There is no point in becoming a mod and doing nothing.

^ new memberships are moderated here on TE . that's the reason we do not see

much spam here . on other forums we see lot of shoe sales, cheap mobiles, viagra ...

we also see member trolls in name of race, caste, politics, ... ; sometimes members post as

if they are chatting on the instant messenger - its much difficult to moderate such forums..

People who are worried about whether they can devote enough time to the forum can always see how much time they have been devoting in the past to judge whether they can do it. BTW, I think this is one of the best forums I have been on, mostly because it is moderated really well.

If it's not too late, can I nominate myself for the Open Source and GT sections?

I don't have time to do banning/infraction stuff ( dont like to either :) ) but I can certainly post warnings and cleanup threads when/where needed.

Cool thanks for the info, I can help linuxtechie/darkstar in the open source section, heh, though that is pretty clean anyway. Don't mind being a global mod either, but I would focus on the sections where I spend most of my time anyway, viz. opensource and wherever else :)

afaik global mod is a promotion for section mods; can't skip step one. :)

Time till 12PM as in two more hours from now.

Yes GT is not available to be taken up by new mods. Very sensitive section. :P

Open Source is already taken up by linuxtechie. Infraction, warning and banning all happen through the same steps with one minor difference. You will have to warn a lot if you are a mod.

Anyway for others who do not get selected on Sunday. You have most likely missed out by a narrow margin of votes (yes we have already started picking our choices). Please do not let this discourage you as you have been playing an active part in the community and your participation is highly solicited as always. Don't worry though, we will be assessing the activity level of all the section mods and will again have a nomination after every 6 months when needed.
