I can't figure out how alchemy works. Is archery important? I believe it would be useful in case of a Dragon raid, right? I haven't touched a single bow-and-arrow yet.
<

I can safely say NO to all of them. I did not use any of the magic tech. save for restoration and enchantment nor archery skills. I specialised in the warrior class, improved ALL of the combat skills to level 100 and kicked arse! Fret not, you will level up gradually and steadily.
<

You think a frost troll was bad? Try provoking one of those giants herding a bunch of mammoths and they'll rape you left, right and center!
<
I am serious - do not approach their camps unless you have leveled up to say 15 or so. One stomp to the ground or one sweep with their club and you'll be floating high up in the air.

Ok, one by one:

You can roll, but only if you put points in the sneak tree. Even then, it' not a dodge move. I use it to move fast around the map.

Alchemy gets pretty easy when you realize that you can eat ingredients to learn their effects. Look at the bottom of the screen in the ingredients menu.

Stick with either archery or magic for long range attacks.

I don't frequent my magic skill either, which is flames. Just like you, I like to keep using health restoration. I used some of my perks on building up it's level and then went for two-handed weapon. Crafted my first enchanted weapon, which has a frost damage I believe. May be now I could get them Trolls.

About those mammoths, the loading screen made it perfectly clear to stay away from them, so I'll heed it's warning. I came across just one such mammoth, but didn't provoke it.

If you read one of the many books lying around, one of which is on trolls, it'll tell you that they're susceptible to fire. So try getting a two handed with burn damage. Red Eagle's sword should be fairly easy to get at your level.

After finishing UC2 i am planning to start this one.Since i have almost finished every nov hits.(mw3.bf3,B:AC and AC revealations)

I have fire casting magic, as a part of my class's ability. In my first encounter, I used it on those trolls, but their health was barely scraped by it. Besides, I was outnumbered and Faendal would get wounded easily. I have now reached the college of Winterhold and learned the firebolt spell. I'll level up a bit and then face those f*ckin' trolls again.

Then I think you are becoming a Mage. Then specialise in it. I was told by a friend that Mages have unique abilities that makes them really stand apart from Warriors.
<

I'm not sure Gannu. I'm trying to balance my abilities. You never know, when you might need 'em.
<

How do I increase the inventory carrying capacity?

Increase Stamina or get the Theives guild armor which has +100 capacity but otherwise useless
<
Otherwise, once you get a follower, just dump all your loot on them.

Also, the flames spell is a low damage low level spell. Won't work against a troll. At higher levels, if you're playing a mage, a dual casted fireball with the augmented flames and impact perks will finish off a troll in 1 shot

The only way to effectively defeat trolls is by casting fire magic on them. The trolls have the ability to regain health very quickly but when you set them on fire, they will loose that ability. All it would take then are 2-3 good blows to kill them.

Don't count on your spells throughout the game. You will encounter enemies who will put up high level wards which can negate all your spells.

@ Gannu:

Mate can you please tell me the order of the quests you followed? I have presently foillowed this questline:

Main Quests (40% done) > Companion Quests > College of Winterhold Quests.

Just needed to know which order you followed going through the game.

I have one follower, presently, Faendal. How do I assign him the loot? What if he gets killed in a fight? Thanks for the tip.

Yep. I learned that the hard way. I got into a close melee battle and his 2 swings were enough to bring my health down to less than half and his was the same. I tried to back off and replenish my health, only to find the troll did the exact same thing. When I unleashed the fire attack, Faendal got caught between it and died. I reloaded my save and decided to bail.

Absolutely! This happened to me while traveling to Winterhold earlier today. I came across Fort Kastav where I had to deal with a Necromage and a Conjuror Master. I think the necromage had this ward you're talking about. Got killed a few times and then I just separated the battle and took them one at a time. They seem to be weak in close ended combat, but their magic does a great deal of damage.

Engage him in a dialog and one of the options will be along the lines of 'I want to trade some things with you' and he'll say okay and open up his inventory. Just select the items in your inventory and give it to him (R is the default key on PC for this). If he dies, then bad luck. Reload and make sure he doesn't die

. Buy a home quickly and keep storing all the loot he's carrying after every dungeon.

From what I've seen, followers rarely get killed from enemy attacks. More often than not, it's your damage that kills them when they get in your way.

That happened to me yesterday. I saw them I was like "C'mon you filthy trolls" all ready and geared up for the challenge and then he cam, he saw, he clubbed and I was dead

Now I am not sure if I want to become a Mage or a warrior...

To buy a home from any of the holds in Skyrim, you need to talk to the Jarl's PA. He'd give you the option of buying one once you've completed the task from him/Jarl. The cheapest I suppose is in Whiterun for 5000 septims. If you can't afford a home, do what I did - clear out Drelas' Cottage. A useless dark mage lives there which can be taken care of pretty easily. Once he's done with that house is yours and has an Arcane Enchanter and the Alchemy Lab as well. Not to mention plenty of space for all the loot you can ever carry and dispose off.

#Black_Hawk: Dude I don't recall much now. But I did most of the side quests first and then resumed the main quest. I knew if I were to complete the main questline first, I'd be bored with the side quests.

Have you encountered any Dragon Priest(s) yet? Don't sell their masks! You will need them towards the end when you have 'em all.

I just killed a mammoth... There is a thieves ruin near where mammoths are found.. Just shoot a mammoth from close range and then run like hell to the ruins and get inside the small gate, The mammoth will just hang around and you can kill it with leisure from inside the safe walls.... Not the most glorious way of defeating mammoths, but hey......
