red-devil - I cannot say how beautiful is the garden, but for me the experience has been awesome so far. To be honest, it actually depends on what you expecting from the device (or eco system). I had android mobile and also android tablet before I switched to iOS. Back in that, Android mobiles were crappy, sluggish and ugly looking with poor battery back up. I immediately made a switch to iOS, well that was almost 3 years back. Today I think Android mobiles are certainly good.
Coming to tablets, I have Nook Color. I rooted it and it runs on some version of CM10. But after I switched to iOS, I felt Android experience very bad. And also 7' screen made me re-think about it. I mainly used it for reading Graphic Novels and Programming books/Papers. For me, reading graphic novels on 7' was really bad and programming books was even worse. Problem is, for the kind of books I read, only PDF is the option and 7" is really small for it. So I decided to go with any 9-10" tablet. However my experience on Nook Color wasn't that good. Or may be I was expecting something else, I don't know. I had made up my mind that not to invest on Android tablet. I may buy an Android phone, but never a tablet. That's how worse my experience was. I was really bored of changing ROMs every weekend. Things would be never stable. Crashes, lagginess were irritating. On the other hand, my new iPhone 4 was amazingly well. So I inclined more towards iOS. On top of it, I use hackintosh. With all devices coupled together, the experience is much more better. iTunes on Mac is really good. In fact I have no complaints with iTunes at all.
Do mind that this was all 1 year before. I stopped using my tablet entirely. Now, before buying iPad Air [I had almost made up my mind for iPad], I tried Nexus 7. Performance was wise it was really better and a lot improved. However, with respect to UX/UI, it still sucks, IMO. Lack of many good games, apps optimized for tablets were another issues.
But honestly speaking, I am biased towards iOS. And I absolutely don't like Android tablets. With tablets or devices with higher screen sizes, user experience matters a lot, I highly doubt if Android will ever figure it out.
That said, what do you expect from your tablet? What are your usages? If you are a kind of person who likes to have funky app launcher or invisible keylock pattern, then iPad is definitely NOT for you. Please do not buy. iOS comes with lots of restrictions and shit, so unless you are completely okay with them, do NOT consider buying it. For me, iOS suits well. Been 8 months since I changed my iPhone's wallpaper. Or its lock screen. IMO, iOS devices are highly optimized, gives you great performance [or it may be because, Apple locks down most of the stuff, but who gives a fcuk.] and very good battery life. I get around 9-10 hours of continuous usage battery back up on my iPad Air. Apple devices will last longer, they have the great built and they just look beautiful. Again, its all perspective and depends on person. And don't forget to keep in mind that you are hearing this from a 3- years+ Apple user [who made switch from Android]
So, think again. Read up reviews. Go to Chroma, check out the devices, be it Droid or iPad. See it for yourself. Look up online about things you can do with iPad and all the restrictions and shit that comes with it. Ask your friends, who have Android tablets and how they are using them etc.
Regarding my initial impressions with iPad Air, I would just say AWESOME.
Hope this helps.
