Ehhhh, Source? They are still not sure how to unlock it. It still signs up with local providers and promptly disconnects after a certain time frame. Till now I have not heard of any conclusive note that Iphone 4 2.10 and above has been successfully unlocked.
 
But thats not even valid. I heard that Unlock will be released post 4.2.1, and then 4.3... Before christmas, after / on Jan 16th. All this came from the same source :- Sheriff Hasim. Till now I have never seen an authentic video where the unlock for 2.10.04 was actually showcased. The only time when I heard about it was from one of the tech managers in my company, who was working on unlocking the baseband, but kept getting stuck with the "sync" or something. Crashing BB as per him, is the easiest thing to accomplish, i think he said it is invoked via overflowing the buffers(?). But exploiting a crash, and making sure it stayed "crashed" was not working(?). He gave up saying that he couldnt figure it out, the only option that he did try was flashing one of the chips(ECID / ECR, I dont know, all this is just jibberish) based on an unlocked version, but the IMEI would be over written (duplicated) and this is illegal (extremely).

So till I actually see a working unlock, im not giving in to those words =) Thanks for sharing the link tho. I thought there was something apart from rdp.

Edit :- And another fact to keep in mind, per SH, he mentioned the same thing for 2.10.04 and BB 5.14 that the "crash" was found in both. But that was never exploited because it couldnt and 3GS users were forced to upgrade their BB to IPAD's BB just to invoke the unlock. So as much as that is a "source", its something I have been told before, and never seen results on.

Thank you never the less for your extremely insightful comment. I should have gotten an FU unit as well, but the I bought into the rumors of an unlock posted by several insightful people with "sources" and ended up in this boat.

Bad news. Musclenerd tweeted this morning that the iPhone 4 unlock for the new basebands is still unstable. No confirmed release date. :(

This should be a lesson to all. Don't buy a locked phone just to save money.
 
^ ^ Didnt "buy" it, expensed it on the crop account. I wish my company sent me to an "unlocked" destination instead of USA. Sigh =(

Like I said, there is no unlock, and from what I "heard" it doesnt look like an unlock will ever be releasing. Everything that MN has been posting is extremely fishy. He had close to 2 1/2 months to post that the unlock path chosen was "rotten", but that information is released right when IoS 4.3 is out. Meh... Time to buy an IP5 =) (and this time an factory unlocked one!)
 
No you don't.
Gevey has released a SIM Interposer which can unlock the iPhone up to iOS 4.3 by force activating the baseband using the emergency dialer.

A blog post by Laforet explains that the SIM Interposer works by adding a EEPROM chip to your SIM card just like a TurboSIM. You then call 112, a number that can be called from any GSM phone, free of charge, with or without a SIM card on any compliant network. Once the call connects you hang up then toggle Airport mode on and off. When the network connection resumes you will be unlocked.

Would advice you guys to stay away from the interposer. Similar to what I posted earlier, this was a (similar?)path that my friend had already explored and avoided due to its legality. And yes. even us in India might (read: will) get into trouble for using it. Its about 70 USD delivered to India, for the adventurer =)
 
Is there any tweak which will take me to the lockscreen(slide to unlock) when the screen is off without pressing the home button.... using some gestures?
