The Indian Politics Thread

^^ Its obviously a populist move to get votes. Usually, Chandra Babu Naidu himself doesn't like such giving out freebies as he believes that such things spoil the people and he had never made a secret of it. But people in A.P. had already been spoilt by the nonsensical schemes during YSR's regime which were mostly misused and abused. Now, Jagan was trying to spoil the people further with even more enticing freebies. Do you that there was one village where people staged a protest because no party was giving them money for their votes except for YSRCP.

So, he really had not much choice in the matter if he was to have a any chance at the elections and I think he kept it grudgingly. Also since its CBN we are talking about, I don't think he would allow this to be misused/abused by the banks or the people. I think there will be a lot of fine print. Most of the other parties had a lot of nonsensical promises. For example KCR promised a 2BHK house for the poor in Telangana. That promise alone would probably require over 4,00,000 crore at least and that is just one of his promises.

As for Kejriwal, all his moves were populist and for getting attention. He would do absolutely anything for that. Randomly rewarding people who refused to pay bills for the electricity that they used cannot even he compared to somebody giving farmers relief from loans. He never had any respect for the law and the only thing he was capable of was spreading anarchy all over the place.

In fact, there are currently three politicians that I know who are very similar to each other in their attitude and are the most dangerous to the country or state and well-being of the people. They are Jaganmohan Reddy, KCR and Aravind Kejriwal.

Quite stupid to be honest. Why not just communicate in the common lingua frana: English. What will this serve...?
he is going to talk in whichever language he is most comfy. He doesn't know english, so hindi will be better to articulate his thoughts

I think he is taking inspiration from Europeans who make a point of speaking in their language even though they know English just fine.

IMO, That's a silly move. Language is a means for communication and the means to achieve an end though that communication. Why make goals of the language itself rather than of what to achieve though communication . As long as you can communicate efficiently, it doesn't matter which language you are using. Regardless of whatever cultural and historical reasons there are, English is a language that has wide spread usage currently. In fact I don't care two hoots even if its Klingon that is widespread. If you and the other guy are comfortable with it, why go to the trouble of speaking in a different language and then hire a translator to translate it.

I never understand why our countrymen try to make a drama out of such petty things in the name of preserving our so called culture and heritage. Its just as bad as trying to speak English with a guy who can just as efficiently speak your native language.

Does matter as long as his followers are happy about the 'patriotic' stand he is taking?
Dude his retarded followers are turning this into a nationalism issue, which is not the case. Check his videos, in english and hindi, he is more comfortable and fluent in Hindi.

^Modi cannot speak english fluently.

From the very article that you posted... :)

While Modi is quite conversant in English given that many New Delhi-based diplomats have met him and never found language to be an impediment, sources said he seems to have decided to stick to the national language in his interactions. That he is reasonably comfortable with the English language is clear by the fact that interpreters are not required to translate from English to Hindi.

Ofcourse, if he is not so confident about his English, then it does make sense to speak in a language he is comfortable with and have an interpreter translate rather than speaking something which is mus-construed by the other party.

Okay, I reword, he is more comfy in Hindi than English.
Ok.
Language is not that important. Patriostism can be shown by uplifting people and by development.
One more thing is that Hindi is not the national language of India. Hindi and English are the official languages.
