From the second one, a dual G4 1.25GHz is slower than a single 2.4 Xeon and a single 2.53GHz northwood. So a single will perform akin to 1.5-1.8GHz P4. Also the benchmark is adobe premiere which is mac optimised.

I was wondering the same thing..... 79 replies and counting and the Mac vs PC debate is still in full flow.....

But this is nice...... Didn't know so much abt Macs.....

hmm,regular 19" with dvi sell for almost that much. not a bad price

yeah dell 20" and ACD use the same LG panel... the apple one is a little more expensive.... due to the coupons that dell offers in US... real good schemes they hv there...

No one knows exactly why OSx86 appears to be running faster on the PCs than the Mac OS does on today's Macs.

Anyway this is my roadmap: P. Windows-->Licensed Linux-->FreeBSD-->P. OS X

And to make matters worse, Rosetta, the emulation software to be used to run PPC applications on x86 for Macintosh is only going to make them just about usable.

One of the big unknowns of the Apple Switch that not many people are talking about right now is Rosetta, the translation software that Intel-based Macs will use to run legacy PPC binaries. The main reason that Rosetta hasn't garnered much attention is that there are too many unknowns. Specifically, prior to the release of the first Intel-based Mac it's difficult to assess just what kind of performance Rosetta will yield on the majority of legacy OS X software. Will most legacy PPC apps be usable? mostly usable? barely usable?
