Can some one suggest me a decent phone in 8k.

It should have

1. Good battery backup

2. Sleek,sturdy and good looking

3. Should have an option to store Messages, Phone book to computer and Install Themes

4. Music player, cam are not compulsory

I have gone through this and Found that Samsung Corby and Nokia 5230 are good. Can some one comment on this?

As mentioned earlier, your are limited to the built-in themes in the Corby, leaving the Nokia 5230 as your only suitable alternative.

The Nokia 5230 is available in the 'Black/Dark silver' colour combination but availability might vary from place to place.

Best Price: 7.9K + VAT

I need to buy a phone for my wife. She currently uses the SE Z550i. Time she switched to something else.

Requirements in order of priority:

1. Easy to use. (specially for calls and texting)

2. Good talk time.

3. Decent camera would be a plus.

4. Support a few Java applications like dictionary. Nice 240x320 display would help for this.

5. WiFi would be nice if it has some kind of OS to run Fring et al.

Points 1 to 3 are essential. Other points are desirable but not essential.

Have been considering Nokia 2700C at the lowest end to Nokia 6303 at the other end. Can I have some views on these?

What are the other alternatives I must consider?

If I don't buy it within this week then I'll want to wait till mid-April.

Nokia 6303C should be your best bet ..!!!! meets all the three essential needs ..!!! also fulfills the fourth ...!! has a decent 3.2 MP cam with flash >!!!! and is pretty cool and handy ..!!! anytime better than 2700C ..

Isn't there any other phone I should also consider in that price band?

Doesn't the 2700 also have all the features I need that the 6303 has except that the camera is a not so great 2MP as against the 3.2MP autofocus in the 6303?

Oh and I suppose the 6303 has 3G support.

What about that Samsung phone that has the slide out QWERTY?

I think she might love a QWERTY keypad.

Well .. the looks of 6303 is far more attractive than 2700 ... and as your gifting it to your wife it seemed better .. as far as other phones are concerned .. with a qwerty keyboard .. there is the Samsung CORBY TXT B3210 which has a 2MP cam and all the the features which 2700C has .. i am not sure that it supports other apps because of its software being different .. and it does not offer themes also .. but .. if you better your a budget a little you can go for NOKIAs 5230 its a complete phone .. offers you everything .. except Wi-Fi .. has 3G .. and an attractive 3.2 inches screen ..!!!! it has a qwerty keppad also being a touchscreen phone offers you everything ..!!!:hap2:

forgot to mention .. it would cost somewhere between 8.3~8.5 ..!!

You can also have a look at Samsung Corby Mate B3310 ... looks attractive .. but the same .. not sure if it supports other apps and themes ..

I'm afraid the Nokia 6303 Classic (6.4K*) is the only viable option.

GPRS + EDGE is more than enough for Fring, as asking for Wifi in this price range is asking too much.

Remember, you are looking for something:

*that offers guaranteed support for java apps and games

*that is really easy to use

*that has a good 240x320 display

*good talktime

6303C Vs. 2700C :

+ Slimmer, lighter

+ Better, Bigger display

+ Better battery backup

+ 3.2MP AF cam with Flash

+ Bluetooth v2 with A2DP

+ H.263/H.264 player

+ MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA player

+ microSD, up to 4GB, 1GB card included

+ 2000 phonebook entries

+ MIDP 2.1

Will this do? :P

Now, there are options from SE and Samsung but see how many can match up to the specs this phone features. ;)

The Samsung B3313 Corby Mate (5.8K*) and the Samsung B3210 Corby TXT (6.6K*) are your only options. :)
