I need a phone which would be used more for business (work email) and some amount of pleasure (FM, games, music). My budget is 12K (+/- 2K). I need to have a QWERTY keypad as I have been using Nokia E62 for a couple of years now and need to replace that. However I would also like to have the touch interface as well. Please suggest a good phone for me.

Thanks!!

The Samsung Corby PRO B5310 (11.9K*) was meant for you ! :P

In fact, it is your only option.

Hey guys...

Need to ask for a phone for myself. Max budget is 10k.. Nothing more please.

1. General Use (Calls/Messaging)

2. Lots of Web Surfing.

3. Chat.

4. Music. ( Prime Importance, should have a 3.5mm jack. )

5. Video on the go, if possible. Like to get a phone that can act as a PMP if possible.

6. Battery life. On max use should last a day or 2 atleast

7. Honestly not a fan of touch. Last one was a samsung i710 and that touch drived me crazy. but not against it if sensitivity is good.

8. GPS is a welcome.

9. Camera can be a 2MP..but should have good qlty.

Please advise.

Thanks TTM.
What are my options if I decide to drop the qwerty condition and want to have a smartphone as I don't think Corby PRO has an OS?

Also how good is the email application in Corby PRO? Does it support push email?

Go for Nokia 5230 or Sony Ericsson W595 or Sony Ericsson G700

Sony Ericsson W595 or Sony Ericsson G700 --> How on earth are these phones good for me. :S the screens are the size of match box. :(

5230 is a very nice phone though... but touch...

if you can put another 1k, you get E63 which has 2.4" display, qwerty, wifi and many options but not great audio quality.

G700 and W595 has all of that and just that they have smaller display.

check T715. This one has 2.2" LCD

5230 is good .. dont worry about the touch .. pretty much decent ..!! have got some good reviews ..

Thank you guys for helping me out. I went to the shop with 2-3 choices that you gave but finally chose Star Wifi. E63 was also on my mind and I really loved Nokia 5230 with its 3.5mm audio jack, 3G and supposedly better GPRS and Edge.. But the WIFI in the Star sealed the deal for me. Plus being considerably cheaper than E63 helped.

Feeling so far :

1) Love it

2) I was a bit sceptical about messaging in touch screen since I thought it was about tapping small keyboard image with the stylus. but the shopkeeper cleared my doubts by letting me try it. it is just as easy as on non-touch phones. Having small fingers sure helps.

3) disappointed that I can't plug in my philips earphone. I hope there is a way other than just to use the one Samsung gave me.

4) The default browser is very good.

5) Love it

Thanks again :)

If you can get used to the resistive touch screen display (which isn't too bad), the Nokia 5230 is your best option !

The other options either miss out on a 3.5mm jack or have a small display.

Your best bet would be the Samsung E1410 (2.6K*) !

Sorry for the delay :( got Damn Busy. Samsung E1410 is very good option i am considering this phone. Can u just tell me how are Spice and videocon mobiles?
Since i do not want to spend much on this mobile so any other Cheap Mobile will do the job.

Yeah, it lacks a mainstream OS. Instead, it features a customized TouchWiz (proprietary) interface.

E-Mail application is rather basic, supporting essential functions but yes, it does support Push E-mail.

Skip the touchscreen display and you have two devices that go head to head to win you over, the Samsung B7320 OmniaPRO (WinMo) and the Nokia E63 (Symbian).

Brand value and A.S.S are equally important.

Not sure about Spice mobiles but Videocon mobiles look good on paper but I'm not sure how reliable these devices are, in the long run.

I was thinking of dropping the QWERTY and going for a touchscreeen though. Any phones that satisfy this condition? Thanks in advance.

Also it would be great if you can tell me the approx cost of B7320 and is the B7330 available in India?

Sitting precariously at 13K, is the LG GT505 which looks good on paper but its real world performance is not quite clear.

There's the Nokia 5800 XM (13.3K*) which I obviously have to mention. :P

Last but not the least, in your case, the Nokia 5230 (8.1K*) seems like a sensible budget choice.

The Samsung B7330 OmniaPRO is a great option but there is no news on its pricing and availability.

Samsung B7320 Omnia PRO ~ 11.4K*

Each option in this price range has a few pros and cons sticking out, in this rather clouded scenario.
