If you want a QWERTY keyboard dual Sim, than i would suggest you go for the Fly Circle.

It has got a decent display, fast UI and plethora of social networking apps come preloaded.. the 3.5mm audio jack is another advantage :)

Olive is not that good - review here - Olivemsgr mobile phone - Living Digital Review

Micromax am not sure, but can check it up ;)

Samsung M3310 Metro is really good one, recently got update with 2GB memory and price revised around Rs.4200/-.

Can someone comment on the battery life...GSM Arena says its 3 hours but Samsung website says 10.5 hours.

Corby Pro is selling for around 12k.
The i7500 is selling for around 15k at places... :)

For QWERTY phone you can also look at the Nokia E63

Battery life depends on ur usage... the specs given on sites are just ripoff from press releases...
On an average, most phones would give you atleast a day's backup..
THe M3310 ha a 960mAh battery with a 3.2MP camera and 2.2" display... so dont expect anything over a day's backup on heavy usage... :)

Did not measured exactly but on first charge it amazed me by giving 3 days of backup with minimal use (hardly 10-15 minutes of calls a day & spent lot of time going through menu). Phone charges very very quickly, if you charge it via USB 10-15 minutes it can give you around 4-5 hours of standby time. I think battery backup is way better than any Nokia in this class.

PS: Above comment is for Samsung S3310T Metro 2GB India version.

I'm going the buy a phone for about 4k

I have been considering

1>Nokia 2700 Classic

2>Samsung Metro S3310

Can someone help me out with the latest prices and whats bundled with them. Also which one would be better.

Out of the two phones you have mentioned, i would suggest go for the Nokia

Its got large battery, a 3.5mm audio out, highher GPRS and EDge speed. It sells for just under 4k...

However, i would suggest you take a look at the new Nokia 2730...

At the same price.. it has the same features, + 3G and Flash LIte 3.0 support as well as A2DP.

Just a quick update from my side...

Been and will continue to be busy for sometime, so I won't be able to answer most queries here. Will try to, whenever possible (time permits).

I really appreciate the efforts of other members who have been providing their inputs and helping out, thereby keeping this thread alive. Thanks!

Nokia N97mini, E71, E72
LG chocolate BL30/40
SE Aino

SE Aino has too many bugs so avoid it at any cost. My first suggestion would be HTC Hero (Android) for 22k-23k. Terrific phone. Then consider N97 Mini (symbian) and Samsung B7610 (Windows mobile). E72 is a good phone but N97 Mini trumps it in every department. LG chocolate etc are only for aesthetic show off.

In terms of connectivity N2730 is better but in features nothing can beat Sammy S3310 (under 4.5k range).

N2730 comes with 1GB microSD + One piece headphone + Charger. @4200/-

Samsung Metro comes with 2GB microSD + One piece regular headphone + Charger. This is new revised Metro called S3310T. @4200/- to 4300/-

But if you could find older one than you can get 1GB microSD + Two piece in-ear type headphone (3.5mm adapter included) + Data Cable + Charger.

thanks. I feel the person in question will not be able to tap the potential of android and its regular updates. thats why i have not included Hero in the list. will have to look at samsung b7610 otherwise N97 mini it is.

thanks.

I'm looking for a low end qwerty keypad phone that should have a decent audio quality and Edge. I'm thinking of getting Micromax Q5 as it has Yamaha equalizer and Edge too. I've heard of other similar Indian-Chinese brands who've released qwerty keypad phones but dont know of similar(to Q5) or better options. Any other sugesstions please share.

My budget is 3.8K and ~4.5K max. Also please tell mw where can I get Q5 from in Navi-Mumbai and for how much.

whts price for Nokia E 63 @ your nearby place ?

any competitor from Nokia itself for E 63 & how much good with features & price ( I mean if there is any other Nokia model ) ..

Well, the next best alternative to the Micromax Q5 (4.2K*), is the funky Samsung B3310 (5.6K*).

Needless to say, the dual sim capability of the Q5 takes a toll on the battery life.

I don't think there is a DivX player yet for 5230. But you can use Handbrake for coverting videos to play on 5230. among the two that you listed, Spica is lot better and 5800Xm is the right competitor to Spica.

Also remember that 5230 doesn't have Wi-Fi and has basic 2mp camera.

spica is just a stopgap attempt to put out android phones by samsung.it has only 128 mb ram which makes it laggy if you upgrade toandroid 2.1 in the future(if you dont then 1.5 version is buggy and missing too many features).a good android handset would be 800mz-1gz proccy, atleast 256 mb ram and hardware 3d acceleration which the samsung spica already has.new models from acer, htc, samsung will all run android 2.1 with all these specs starting third quarter of this year at prices 10k-12k.and finding apps for android is a pia.5230 i.e. symbian apps are everywhere and amazing.
