Hi TTM,

Friend wants to gift mobile to wife, his budget is max. 8k & wanted to go with NOKIA only. Kindly suggest your best.

Thanks :)

If she does fancy a touchscreen mobile : Nokia 5233 (7.2K*) or Nokia 5230 (8K*)

Simple, no-frills, candy-bar form factor - Nokia 6303 Classic (6.2K*)

Clamshell - Nokia 7510 Supernova (6.8K*)

OK... i have chosen Nokia 5230 as the one i want to have since my budget is < 10k.

If you are to choose any model and brand less than 10k, is 5230 a great one or would you buy anything else. Why?

As far as the usage is concerned, normal use only and what about the apps & games availability for 5230.

Thanks in advance,

haridada

you need to sign in to Ovi store, set your phone model and you will find all the apps that your phone supports.

Under 10k, nothing beats the feature set of Nokia 5230! :)

SAMSUNG DUAL SIM TOUCH SCREEN B5722.
I have been looking for a Dual Sim Mobile for my sister- from a reputable company- with a good display and touch screen. Have just come across Samsung B5722 Dual Sim with 2.8 inch capacitative screen- 3.2 MP cam and 1200 MAh. Battery which I can pick up off ebay for 9.4k less 1k coupon= 8.4k shipped with 1 year warranty.
Your take on this is desperately needed.

From the specs it seems to be a great phone for its price. THe 1200mAh battery is great, dual GSM, capacitive touchscreen - though the resolution is ok.

Do keep in mind that it hasnt got any 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth is v 1.2. Also the camera is fixed focus not AF....

Please suggest a mobile phone

My requirements

1. Music/FM (Through Earphones, not speakers)

2. Better display for net surfing

3. Rough and tough use (does it means I should avoid Touchscreens)

4. Good battery back up

5. Voice recording

6. More Memory (for phone book, sms)

7. Camera quality (not very important)

8. Sleek and stylish looks (for my jeans pocket...:P not very important)

9. I like slider phones (not very important)
Budget

Around Rs 7000 - 8000/- (can extend the limit for an exceptional VFM product)

Samsung corby mate

I saw this on a website for 5900/-...quite impressed with the features, but need feedback from users..

A solid, no-frills, fully featured option would be the Nokia 6303 Classic (6.2K*).

If you really dig sliders, there's the SE T715 (9.2K*) and SE W595 (9.8K*), to choose from.

Although you can protect a touchscreen phone by investing in a good case, it really isn't designed for rough handling or environments. However, surfing the web on a large screen, will prove to be an experience.

So you basically have three different directions to go...

Let me know if you have any specific queries.

Overall, it does come in an attractive package, packing the basic necessities.

However, with any dual-sim phone the battery life can significantly vary and the user opinions on the B5722 suggest that the backup is just about right, a day's usage tops.

Other options are the LG KS660, Videocon V1750, Videocon V2950 and the Fly E106.

You can't really expect a top-of-the-line feature set on a dual-sim mobile because a sturdy, basic model is what most people look for and what manufacturers cater to.

Hope this helps.

1.
Are touchscreen mobile fones sturdy enough for long bike rides (not drives) ?

Do they require extra care in high altitudes, low tempratures, rough terrain or you can just put them in your jeans pocket like traditional ones and forget them while riding?
2.
Samsung Star 5233 vs Nokia 5230
which one is better ?
which is a better music phone ?

I never climbed everest so donno about high altitude thing but my earlier phone (motorokr E6) didn't turn into alien when I went to Ooty :)

Nokia 5230 is far better than samsung star any day.

PS: unless you roam around with blades and mobile phone in same pocket, be it a long ride or a short run, touchscreen phones are sturdy. All you need to do is apply a screen protector to avoid scratches

Nokia 5230 review: Foot soldiers get smarter - GSMArena.com

as per their tests, 5230's audio quality is pretty good and more imporatantly, it surpasses 5800XM's audio quality.

I have query regarding business phones. Need something in between 7-10k. Nokia e63 seems a good buy? any others? dont mind if its semi-business and semi-time pass either. Any phones in this category?
Basically looking for a phone with good connectivity features/organiser/MS office (or equivalent software to work on documents etc).

Also, since I have 2 sims, wanted to know if a dual sim phone will be a good choice? if so can someone suggest a few models withing my budget? again same feature sets are required.

My Uncle is on a lookout for a business phone, basically he wants to be able to do stock trading on it. He uses NOW for stock trading on his laptop, are there similar softwares available on mobile phones? There is no specific budget .(Lets say upto 28-30k, but the cheaper the better :))

Nokia N97 Mini or Samsung B7610 for 22k with an extra battery pack should be good.

If your uncle is okay with touch screen, look for HTC Hero too.

How much does the N97 itself cost? And if his needs can be met at a lower price, that would be good too, because he really wont care much about SQ etc. etc.

The sole reason for him to buy a phone is so that he can do his stock trading etc. on-the-go. Please do suggest some nice software's for it.

Features that I think are necessary here:

1) comfortable keypad
2) big display
3) 3rd party applications support
4) high performance hardware

In this case, a full qwerty slide type phones are best bet. The keypad will be big and comfortable for texting and long use and these generally have 3" or bigger displays making webpage viewing easy.

anyways, here is the list that i can make (will not suggest phones without hard keypad here):

Nokia E71 : 15k-16k
Blackberry Curve: 13k-15k
Nokia E72: 19k-20k
Nokia N97 Mini: 22k-24k
Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO: 23k approx
BlackBerry Bold: 28k-30k
N97 has slightly bigger display and larger memory when compared to N97 Mini. everything else is same.

Not sure about apps on stock markets. Will need to dig respective appstores for this.
