Can u plz confirm me that has N78 is phased out or not...

I am really confused as to what to go for and wat not

Basically I need a Nokia as I have some useful SMSes from my old N70

Can series 40 phones like 6500 slide run N70 format SMS if I place the mail folder in System/Mail of the memory card.

Any other smartphones in 10-15k range..

1. The N78 has been phased out and only the existing stock is still being sold.Case of new ones replacing older ones

Now,it being phased out has got nothing to do with A.S.S & App. support/development,so no worries !

2. What you can do is connect your phone to the PC and use Nokia PC Suite to read all the messages from your N70 and EXPORT them to a standard (.csv) format that can later be synchronized/sent back to your new S40 phone...

hmmmm....the camera being 2mp on the viva and the i780 is average.....I would rather side with the i780 coz of the better processor and qwerty.....What do u think about the SE G700(costs arnd 14k) and the SE G900(arnd 20k) because they have decent 3mp and 5mp cams respectively and other nice features though I think they lack EDGE which really sucks....Does the G900 have 3g though and wifi? Can u suggest any other nice reliable phones considering the type of features i want.

Preferance:
1) use of internet on the go
2) Cam
3) Reliable

Thats all I want really. Any pics? i can stretch my budget to a little over 15 If its really worth it...

1. If you need QWERTY and can live with an average battery life & unpopular display resolution,the Samsung i780 definitely offers a lot !!!

2. G700: Decent specs but runs on the discontinued UIQ OS.

3. The SE G900 does offer 3G & WiFi but retails at 19K* !

4. The Best options that meet your requirements:

Nokia N78 ~ 3.2MP Cam/S60/WiFi ~ 13-15K*
Motorola ZN5 ~ 5MPCam/Linux/WiFi ~ 15.5K*
Nokia 6260 Slide ~ 5MP Cam/S40/WiFi ~ 17.2K*

This is keeping in mind a max. budget of 17K !
Better options for over 19K...

Well,from what i've heard...

FLY Mobiles have poor signal quality,mediocre battery life & hopeless A.S.S ! :no:

I've never recommended FLY Mobiles to anyone.

Your better off buying a Nokia or SE...

Here's why I didn't add it:

1. The cheap plastic keypad looks very tacky!

2. No WiFi ! Only EDGE or 3G...

@amitmishra12 In 5-7k range, you can consider the Motorola ZN200(I forgot if it was the ZN200 or ZN300) and the Motorola A810.

The Nokia 5220XM will also fall in that range.

Even though the SE K550i is an old model but it can still be considered.

Agreed the Touch 3G is more responsive with a better processor but the Diamond is more of a premium offering compared to the Touch with the addition of 3G of course.

Proximity sensor for auto turn-off

Stereo FM radio with RDS

4 Gigs of built-in memory...

I m using nokia 6233 since 10 months and also hav a sony t20 8.1 MP digicam,and i often find it cumbersome carrying the digicam wth me and make sure it is fully charged so now i m planning to dispose both the devices and looking for a mobile phone wth a decent cam. As for my usuage I ll be mostly using it for taking pics of xrays and clinical photographs of patients indoors.

I wont be using it for gaming or music, its just cam and for making calls and occassional smses. so my priorities are (in the same order)

1. picture quality

2. battery life

3. durable,rugged as i m looking for a long termer

4. would be an added advantage if its light weight and sleek looking

And i would be glad if someone can answer my second query too ie how much can i expect for my 10month ol 6233 and a year old sony t20 digicam. Can i expect a decent price if i give it in exchange for a new phone in retail outlets like univercell.
