There are plenty. In a similar design as 1680 suggested by TTM you may consider its forerunner, the Nokia 1650 at 1.7 to 1.8K
There are also some new LG phones in the 1.4 to 1.6K range you might consider like the GB105 which also has a superb battery life. It is worth having high standby time because granny may not remember to charge the phone and you'll have to do it for her.

Motorola ZN5 is a great allrounder phone. I dont own it but have read many reviews on the net. Do check out its review on mobile-review.com and smape.com
It has got great camera(beats the N82 in many respects) and great sound quality(almost similar to the ROKR E8 which has the best sound quality among phones after the Samsung Serenta and INNOV8).

The only problem with the ZN5 is that it is not exactly a smartphone, its video recording capabilities are the worst among 5MP camera phones(At least it was when it was reviewed. It may have been improved using a firmware update) and the morphing keypad may need some time getting used to. I have used the morphing keypad on the ROKR E8 and so can tell you that it is not that bad. Its just that your typing speed will decrease a bit and the tactile feedback is only provided by the vibrator, no tactile feedback from the keys themselves.

But considering its price and features, it is a great phone to buy.

I am looking for a basic phone for my bro with good battery life,support for Java games,good network.Class 6/10 EDGE and GRPS will be a good addition.The budget will be 4k max. Should I go for a new phone or hunt a used phone ?

It's does indeed have a decent 5MP camera(the USP of this model) but has a low-quality video recording mode & photos taken in low light are generally noisy.

It also lacks 3G.

Fortunately,that apart,it is indeed a great device that handles all other functions well!

Being easy to use, reliable, loaded with enough features and sporting an irresistible price tag , it definitely is "Value For Money" !

n 3110 c +512mb = 4.5 k here in my place

what about LG KP 320- u mentioned it as 4.1k somewhere in thread how is this phone,it has 3 m camer-bit tempted.
but my prime need his best network

1. That's a nice deal !
2. It's the LG KP220 not KP320 ! The KP320 retails for 7.1K

Phones I've mentioned clearly meet your requirements.So for something better,you'll have to increase your budget.

- Budget is 12,000.

- Main requirements are photography, looks, texting and music.

- No to Motorola.

Just so you get the idea about my taste, I really like the Samsung SGH-E840 a lot, but it has a miserable camera without flash, so had to pass on that.
