Its not detecting PS3 on wireless conn.
i m running PMS on win7 64bit :S
may be coz of that ???

I am using Windows 7 64-Bit and streaming over WiFi. PMS works fine here. I guess you need to add PMS to Anti-Virus exclusions or firewalls.

^added..... it says to activate uPNP on PC :S now i think its default active on PC, how to chk ?

I think it has something to do with your router. Just check out the UPnP settings for your router and report back.

Hey what router are you using? Is it configured by default to access any devices connected and establish a link between the connected devices? Say PC and the PS3 here.

^Aztec router...and it is already connected to PS3 for Wifi....

PS3 is showin uPnP is disabled :S

Say i play a 1080 mkv using this via a ps3 and via xtreamer, will the quality be the same?

Is the server reencoding to mpeg2 on the fly? Then there must be loss right? Is the playback 1080p res if the mkv file is 1080p ?

Can you also respond with respect to xbox360?

^The quality is the same. No re-encodes happen like the way you have put it. The video is automatically upscaled if it is not 1080p.

No clue about the X360 though. Does it even play .mkvs?

i cant seem to use this at all with tversity. its so hard. in my pc the ps3 is not detected at all. is there a step by step method to this ? everyone on youtube shows direct stuff. i have a dlink router. what are the settings to be done on computer , router and the ps3 itself ? confused plesae help

Well it has been quite a long time since I have read such type of nice information about PS3. So I just catch up it here only. I am using PS3 since last month before it I have heard a lot more about it but didn't see this type of nice information.

Frankly all you need is a wifi router,ps3 media server and mkv2vob. 720p files play effortlessly over wifi as long as you got a semi-decent proccy.Else playback might be a bit jerky(hd movies) during those pan and zoom shots. But here again mkv2vob comes to the rescue. However the same's not the case with 1080p files. Those need to be converted to ps3 readable formats using mkv2vob and then transferred to ps3 again using ps3 media server.Even those who don't have an av receiver can play HD movies. lan connection is not needed at all unless you wanna stream 1080p content frm your pc.

Somebody help plz, i cannot for my life, get this thing to detect my PS3.It always returns the RED Cross mark.

I have connected the PS3 network cable to the PC network card and the PMS Trace shows the console detecti9ng the connection and sending ALIVE packets, but the software doesn't detect the console.Am using Windows 7 with NO firewall except default one, and that has been disabled as well.

Also, can anyone plz guide through the network settings i have to enter in PS3 Internet Settings(as in which address is where).

Regards

That card is tricky and so is most WiFi USB adapters for use with Windows 7. I am using a Buffalo WHRG54 router and this thing streams 1080p flawlessly. In fact I was just watching Green Zone through the PS3.

IP address:

Subnet mask:

Default Router:

Primary DNS:

Secondary DNS:

the data depends on your current network

IP address: if your pc is 192.168.0.2 then keep the ps3 192.168.0.3

Subnet mask: same as your pc or router

Default Router: also means gateway, if you are using a router then enter the router ip, if not then enter your pc ip for ex 192.168.0.2

Primary DNS: depending on your internet or automatic

Secondary DNS: depending on your internet or automatic

Iam not able to enable the "Enhanced Multicore Support for H264 HD Content".. When i tick the check box to enable that, it shows a message like this & it still remains unchecked..

Help me out please..

Time to bump this thread up! :P

OK I just found that the PS3 can be directly connected to a laptop or a PC eliminating the need of a router AND a crossover ethernet cable! It appears that the PS3 is capable of Auto-MDIX thus eliminating the need to use a crossover ethernet cable. A normal ethernet cable can thus be used.

IP: 10.1.1.1

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: BLANK

DNS: 10.1.1.1

Now edit the PS3

IP: 10.1.1.2

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 10.1.1.1

DNS: 10.1.1.1

Now open PMS and go to General Configuration Tab

Look for the [Force] area and select your wired card.

force the IP to 10.1.1.1

Many thanks to zomgheals at the PS3 Media Server Forum for this input. :)

This is a boon for me since I have moved my router and cable modem to a stash outside my home so I can get rid of the unnecessary dangling cables around. Now I can link my main system which is the repository for the HD rips to the PS3. And have the PS3 play the media. w00t! :D

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

^OK I have successfully connected the PS3 to my main system and ran everything from .mp3s to FLACs to 16GB .mkvs flawlessly. :D

Awesome! Cannot wait for my new LCD to turn up! wOOt!
