WTF .. My Wired Card doesnt show up in the Force Area!

Only my Wireless Card and some Software is showing up.

Can someone help me out?

^Connecting directly to the PC with an ethernet cable and not a router? Did you try the settings I have mentioned in the first page? Takes a while before you get it right so keep tinkering around with the LAN settings.

I am connecting from PS3 to my Laptop. I can successfully use the PSM wirelessly.

The problem is when i connect my Laptop through ethernet to the PS3. When i start the PSM i dont get my wired network card in the Force options. I have attached the screenshot of Force options i can see in my Laptop.

Bty did u try this with ur netbook or your PC?

^Not with the netbook but my PC. Can try it when I hook my PS3 later this month end but it's going to take some time. :P

Even I was able to connect wirelessly but can't use ethernet.. is there any problem in using both wireless and wired on PS3 ?

^AFAIK you can't use both of them at the same time. I used my WLAN over the router to download the firmware updates but disconnected it and connected through the ethernet port directly to my PC.

@apex: Have you disabled WLAN on the PS3?

Finally got the PC-PS3 streaming to work. Although it involved purchasing a Belkin router. Disabling uPnP helps a lot in getting the setup to work. But one petty grouse with the PS3 media server is it's inability to play subtitle files which are in the same folder. Or am I doing it wrong?

^Hell no! It does play with the subtitles - in fact I found that the subtitles' font can be reduced to a bare minimum that it wont draw your attention to the subtitles alone! :)

Loved that part.

Sorry for the late reply. Got it working in my Netbook.
I had to disable the Wirless Adapter in my Netbook though. Didnt disable the Wireless in PS3 though nor am in aware on how to do that :P (Steps please) though i am pretty sure that my Wireless connection settings were deleted after i set the Wired connection in PS3.

Desecrator - Can you point out your PMS settings as even i am not able to play Sub Titles. Also have you been able to Use CoreAVC in PMS?

^You can enable only one of them on the PS3. If you have LAn setup now, stop worrying about the WLAN. :)

As for the PMS settings, I have everything setup on the default settings on my PC except the font size - haven't tried CoreAVC yet. Tried a couple of files and it played flawlessly. Shall take screenshots and post it here later this evening. Unless Darksiders keep me occupied i.e. :P

Besides, I suppose netbook isn't a good option if you try playing HD rips unless you have the Broadcom accelerator installed. Were you able to play those files properly through the netbook?

So.. i am hooked to this now.

Have some issues.

WMV and avi playback. The WMV doesnt play coz it need the wma to be enabled and the avi.. dunno.. they still shows up as unsupported when selected.

but the thumbnail is generated.

and in the settings the AVI engine is not loaded.

any idea why these happens and how to change?

@apex..

can u post some feedback abt using ur atom to stream?

guess upto 720p are ok....and what abt the rest? which proccy is urs?. N450 something?

I am thinking abt getting the dual core atom.. wether it makes any difference. reviews says no though.

In win7 Laptops higher Preference/Priority is given to Wireless Connections over Wired connections i.e.
to say that If you have both connections active(i.e. connected) the Laptops primary connection would be the WiFI, cuz of this reason the Lan connection to PS3 wasnt getting detected. To solve this problem i had to disable the Wifi :P

@-Jeri - My netbook isnt atom based. Though to stream from a Netbook the processor wont be the bottleneck it would be the IGP. I suggest you wait for the AMD Fuzion processors rather than purchasin a Dual Core Atom,.

Lol i havent seen my ps3 in days! Work is raping me :( ...
Will report back over the Weekend :P unless cuztomizing dockstar gets the better of me

Bty i just realized that i could FTP to PS3 through Wired connection even when my Wifi Card is Enabled and Connected to the Internet. The only thing is that for PMS to identify the PS3 only once connection should be active :( ...

So here is something I encountered upon while viewing a blu-ray rip a week back and thought I should mention it here.

I was watching a blu-ray rip (.mkv file) and all was fine until the first 20 minutes of the movie. After that the audio playback stopped after an eroor popped up on the display which read -

“Audio outputs temporarily muted. Do not adjust the playback volume. The content being played is protected by Cinavia™
and is not authorized for playback on this device. For more information, see Cinavia Consumer Information Center. Message Code 3.â€

Cinavia Messages: Message Code 3

The reason is because the Cinavia DRM is implemented by the console and this was due to a firmware update (an old one). As a result, the audio playback (and in some worst cases even the video playback as well!) stops. The DRM is implemented in many blu-ray players as well. I suppose standalone media-players like the Xtreamer is spared here.

PMS hasn't come with a solution to this problem as yet.

Btw my TV had absolutely no problems playing this file from an iPod 160GB connected via the USB port. Guess the Koreans are a bit ahead of the rest. :P

Help needed.

Was using the PMS just fine till now. suddenly PMS not detecting the PS3.

I fiddled around with some network settings for my HiMedia but that didnt work. so put all that back in default. no use.

I installed a Bandwidth monitor. removed it no use.
