The Samsung Galaxy Spica i.e. I5700 thread

Guys I have uploaded HTC's Microsoft Exchange email client & HTC Hero's Sense UI keyboard apk(s) here & here. Can any one download them and test it on their Spica and Galaxy. Possibly post a screenshot here. To install & use HTC keyboard refer a tiny tut here (Post 97).

This will be one great help for me.

A frd of mine bought a Samsung i7500 for 14200 from Hotspot in New Delhi.

Also - VAT increased on mobile phone and accessories from 5 % to 12 % in Delhi.

Sp ppl looking out to buy phones...Do that asap to avoid the pinch :D

Buy i5700. Its a new device and bound for an Eclair update. Rs. 13500 is the max that you should cough out for Spica IMO. Even in Mumbai where the VAT is ridiculously high, it doesn't go beyond 13K.

a 3.2 mp camera just for barcode scanner???:S:S:S .......to which nokia phone's camera it can be compared to...??

Thanks, so what do you suggest, upgrade to 2.1 and then root?

I won't call the phone sluggish, but it isn't as zippy as I had hoped (e.g. lags at time when using the on screen keyboard)

would the 2.1 upgrade make it worse?
 
My brother in delhi got a quote of 12.1k and also the shopkeeper agreed to decrease a bit more when he buys it

bought it this evening from banwari lal shop, near BTW (near prem studio), kamla nagar, delhi for 12.2 K...could have got it even for 12 k if had bargained more.....

anyways....its even worth more.....awesome phone....just go for it....

just not able to wait for android 2.1 ? kinda scared and lazy to apply workarounds for upgrade....

any idea when is samsung gonna release it officially here ?

one question - when i connect it to PC, Samsung New PC studio software does show my device by name "GT-i5700" (yaa, you have to uncheck USB mode only option in phone setting first, otherwise it will only show SD card) , but on clicking update it says device not supported. Can anyone share some experience here ?
