hey guys, nice thread. i m a symbian junkie here, any questions r welcome. i m a pro even for SE phones.

now, someone mentioned that to transfer protected files one can rename the extention to .mp3 or sumthing else. it works, but you will have to remember the original extention.
A better way is to add any symbol (eg. $ or &) at the end of the filename (eg. overdrive.sis&) and it will go via bluetooth.

someone mentioned forward, its good but if your messages are stored in phone memory it wont help. anoter alternative is to go to mails in fileman and transfer the file.

also, fileman is much better than FExplorer. its also more stable.

FExplorer 1.16 is neday better than fileman....
and wit most of the explorers nowadays u can send protected files also normally... if there s ny error jus remove the extension n send...

^One more question. Friend's 6600.. opening a sent MP3 results in "Messaging: Unknown File Format", so I can't even move the file to the memory card. How do I transfer it to the memory card?

bcoz nokia 6600 not support the mp3 format.

i think in terms of compatibility either controllfreak or bemused are similar.

If u want a refined app, use ctrlfreak otherwise if u want a simple app,use bemused

okay so the software section has become quite old and muddled together, so I thought of

making a new post in general about S60 3rd edition(or symbian 9.1) and to list some important freewares and softwares for it.......



S60 3rd edition/ Symbian 9.1 is the new Version of symbian being released by Nokia in most of their smartphones since early 2005...

some of the common 3rd edition phones are

- All N series except N70, N72

- All E series

- 5500,and some other phones.....

Differences from older symbian versions

1) Faster response UI

2) Updated music player with stereo support

3) PLUG and PLAY support/ USB mass storage support

4) scalable UI though it does not work most of the times

5) Enhanced security .. :::: ???

6) System folders are not accesible anymore by onboard file managers....

you must first go to the file play list and select "scan for files" (or similar) from the options.

Gud thread bah....m lookin for flash lite for mah e61i....bloody cant view flash sites..
Also,m on airtel NOP which doesnt connects to IM'z...ne way to use msn/yahoo on airtel NOP...yahoo has a web based chat msnger...but requires flash plugin...

Any reason for Oggplay now that except .ogg evry common audio file types are supported right out of the box?

Qreader is according to me, the best s/w for symbian mobiles right up there with fexplorer.
