BTW is it harmful to run IEMs continuously 8hrs+? If not, how many hours can an IEM run safely for?
I doubt that. I ran Hippo Epic-Sparkle in continuous burn-in (PC -> uDAC for night and a DAP for day) for a full day, I think. Of course, it's at listening volume + 2 points more in DAP and similar for uDAC. I never use noise files, just my regular music albums. It still sucked in SQ, but then it could be also because it had enough and decided to cry!

I've burned in several IEMs for 12-15 hrs (until the battery in player runs out) during the day and rested them at night while charging the player. They've lasted till now. But then I just do the burn-in ritual just for the heck of it. So what do I know? They might have over-burned and are performing at less than their potential :P

If you meant inside the ears, no! not good for your ears. The max I've gone is about 18 hrs (Sat 5PM - Sun 5PM) when my DBA-02 arrived and I did not put another IEM in for the next 2-3 days. But then I am crazier than thou!

What the hell is so special about them !!

LoL , even amarbir is out of stock for these IEM's now .

Yeah was talking about burning them in, I ran them continuously for 10 odd hours once overnight and I read somewhere that running them over 8 hours continuously could damage the drivers so I got a bit worried.

I'll be very candid anubhav! They are NOT the best things since sliced bread. They are not even the most engaging of IEMs on first listen, not the most musical as I can say about DDM / FX700 / HJE900, does not have the greatest sound stage. I got many IEMs since then, some of them better when you compare item-to-item vs DBA-02 (TF10 has similar speed in bass, but has better quantity for example). But then, I still (somehow) like them due to the factors mentioned in my initial impressions. I guess it's just my personal preference.

I've to try CK10 someday to see if I like 'em better than DBA-02. That's largely because of this post on head-fi (among the handful of persons whose 'wall of text' I care to read)

If I like an IEM's signature in the first 1-3 hrs, I usually don't burn them in. If I already like it, but bass is going to tighten up after 101 hrs, why miss the fun for the first 100 hrs? I 'burn-in' to see if something that needs to be 'fixed' gets fixed or sometimes just for the fun of stressing a driver (like running M6 at crazy volume levels for 50 hrs over four days - increasing vol every day). I don't have an excellent audio memory to remember how they sounded in the first hour and after 5 days of burning in outside of my ears. So, I usually notice no differences that I can be very sure of. The only IEMs I hated initially and liked after 50 hrs are RE0 and Pana HJE900. I am still not sure if it was my brain tremendously adjusting or things actually getting better.

I feel it's more psychological than anything else. If I don't like an iems sound sig in the first 5-10 mins, I will still feel the same. Unless I play a genre which hides the flaws or accentuates the pros of the iem.

I call it, the mind trying to justify the purchase by overlooking the flaws.

No iem is Perfect simply bcuz no two ppl like the exact same type of music here. One can't even categorize some1s taste in music depending on a genre, hence I or any1 here can't or shud not ever use superlatives like XXX is the best iem ever!!!! Ok I shall stop being preachy around here b4 I get flamed!!!! Lol.

One top tier iem that I don't see the Mids lovers here talkin abt is the Shure 53x?

Any particular reason why it's not liked or disliked or jus not worth a mention?

I don't know why or how but my M3 seem fickle to me or maybe there is some problem with me, or maybe its the seal I get sometimes and sometimes don't get a good seal - They sound different to me sometimes both in a negative way and positive way. Sometimes they feel recessed in soundstage and sometimes (like right now) they suddenly sound fuller, with better soundstage width. Or Im just crazy and its all just psychological.

just because it has been dethroned by RE262 :D !! RE262 is great have very natural sound sig , with forword mids and laid back treble ( what ??!!, HOW is THAT POSSIBLE !! ,.. it is my friends .)

also because the sure ..retails for a whooping 500!! :O

as for burning in it is recommended that you give rest to the drivers for an hour after 10 Hrs of burn in ! :)

but that is for dynamic drivers ...i donno if that applies to BAs .

@anubhav ...you said they are packed and kept aside :(

@santosh, yeah the treble is what for i am all hyped about the DBA and CK10, the only universals i am interested in ( though i eat my words , as soon as i say them :P )

I agree with all your points, Benny.

I hated the Hippo Epic-Sparkle the first 10 mins and I still do. At that time, I did not know what was wrong. 10 months later, I was able to describe the faults in words to an extent. Also when buying a well researched IEM, the brain accumulates a lot of accolades it has accumulated while reading. Those are the things we will look for when we try it out. Being a skeptic helps a lot, especially when every new IEM is considered THE BEST ;)

Every IEM, at least among the universals has it's flaws. When SM3 came out, there was nothing but praises. You go past many pages of appreciation in the appreciation thread....and you find people complaining about recessed treble :)

No! strategy! You can't say that based on what clieOS wrote :P. SE53X does not get it's due to it's price, I guess. There are only a few IEMs which are very mid-centric - SE530, e-Q7 are among them. SE530 also had a terrible build quality, where people usually go through two RMAs within the warranty period (Read some Amazon reviews). SE535 has fixed the 'flaws'. e-Q5 similarly has a bit more than e-Q7 in treble, which dilutes the mid focus a bit. SE530 is said to have one of the best mid-ranges ever, because it's rolled off at both ends leaving mids to dominate the signature. If it was available around $250, I guess it'd be more accessible.

the words are clieOS's, sure. butt my personal experience is also certifies the same , the mids are great , effortless neutral with the 262 , for mids they are great!!

^ But, you've not compared them personally with SE530 and that's what I meant ;). It's the best among what you own / owned probably by miles - TF10, FX700, RE262, S4 and others. It's similar to me making a statement that e-Q5 has the best mid-range ever without trying e-Q7, RE262 and SE53X :P

100% true

and i dnt care if mids of ths iems are better

i got 262 for arnd 8k

thts much better thn spending 25k+shipping+customs for se535

and best of all i m happy with the sound of 262

santosh , yeah you are right on that part, i should not say that. :hap5:

butthemidsofre262aresogreatthatiwillsaythatthesearetheKINGOFMIDS :bleh:

^ I really need to try the 262s now . Brendon was saying he still prefers the RE-1 mids over 262 :S . Just need to wait till 1st week of Jan for the Mumbai Can Jam :P .

if he wants more mids than the RE262, he should try the RE262 with HM602 ...MIDS WILL BLOW HIM AWAY !!

HM602+re262 combo's mids are too much for me thats why i listen the RE262 via the Sflo2.

FX700 pairs (better than ) great with my HM602 :D

I guess he tuned the whole system and his ears too much for RE1 :P. Or he has less preference for warm mids of RE-262.
