IIRC, it was a 540W Power supply. Was a modular power supply. Had dual rails - 18A on 12V1 and 16A on 12V2 if i'm right.

Kinda expensive though for its price , you may as well opt for an Antec in that case.

^^^^ This 540W was for Rs 3500 , its a nice deal must say.
Dual 12V at 18A & 16A , detachable cables , 2 Fans.

How much warranty & are they really trustable.

We Never asked for the warranty !

The Finish of the product was surprisingly good - a gunmetal grey kinda finish which was reminiscent of the OCZ PSUs. And it was pretty hefty as well, a sign of a good PSU. But nothing is sure till one actually takes this on for a test drive. I wonder though who the OEM's are for this new line of PSU's. Vaguely remember something like a "GM540" model number on the PSU sticker.

They had another PSU on show beside it - the plain jane 500W model. This was an L&C OEM unit, no doubt about it from the LC-B500 model number. Surprisingly they were charging 2.4K for that :P

Well if it was selling for the much much lower price we're used to from Zebronic and other Generic PSU's, I wouldnt mind! In that case, it might be another value find comparable to the X800 GTO2 :P

But honestly IMO , they should have built their reputation up before asking for these premium prices! Perhaps I can pay the nzone guys another visit sometime and coax them to test the baby out ;) (yeah i'm dreamin)

Bumping this one up - I'm pretty sure I know which PSU's these are ! They are EagleTech/Skyhawk PSU's. (http://www.skyhawkusa.com/Product.asp?CateID=5&LineID=2)

I've taken these pics from a MadShrimps review, I'm sure those who came for the TE Chennai Meet will identify this as the same PSU that was on display:

Identifying factors:

- Gun metal grey finish

- The modular connectors / white plastic ring surrounding the hole where the main power cable comes out of the PSU.

- 9cm translucent fan at the base

- Wired-mesh sleeving for the main power cable

- The sticker (yeah, i distinctly remember the red/green text on the sticker!)

- The model number . Skyhawk has these listed as GMxxx series models. If you read my earlier post I had mentioned the PSU as having a "GM540" model number.. while I may be off on the number, that strongly points to the same product line.

Here's a link to Newegg for this product: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817193002

Retails for around 70$. Considering its selling here for around 3.5K too, that seems a reasonable price.

Now as per performance, there are mixed opinions about this PSU. Some consider it good, while some of the newegg user reviews point this out as nothing great. I recall "Angry_Games" from DFI Street actually being interested in this and ordering one of these PSU's, i never checked back to see what became of that !

Here is the MadShrimps review to a 620W model of the series (Skyhawk GM620) : http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=320

The review has dissected the PSU, and the internal components look fairly beefy and well built ! However there was a case with their test sample not being a *true* dual-rail unit, however that was promptly rectified by the company as mentioned in the last page.

Oh ya the same one alright, i went there this monday with my friend to get a cheap Headset for him and saw this one sleeping there and i asked the price for which i got the reply as 3.3k.

so is this 1 available for 3.3k saiyan & eddy? the 570w dual12v modular psu?

if this is the case i might buy this if i dont get my psu from malaysia.

nice info eddy ....really good research .... is this PSU is available in mumbai .... i think i will get a 640 Zebby rather than antec 550 ..... it looks good .... and price is also resonable .... and zebby will give warranty on this .... is there any model with high single rail output like 34A on 12v rather than dual rails .... after looking at some reviews i think single 12v is better than dual rails .... anyways its mine idea some may prefer dual rails .....

You would have to confirm with saiyan, but the model I recall seeing was a 5xx watt model. I'm not sure if it was 520 or 570 watts ! :P

I would definately recommend that you get the Antec TP 2.0 550W ! These maybe good, but I would still place my money on the Antec. And Antec does offer warranty here too !

The entire range is dual-rail. Except that as mentioned in the MadShrimps review, some of the earlier models were in fact single rail. Whether single-rail or dual-rail is better is a highly debatable topic !

- First and foremost, dual-rails were created *specifically* for safety regulations. Its potentially dangerous to have that many amps flowing on a single 12V rail.

- Dual-rails , by isolating power for the CPU and for other devices helps keep out noise/disturbance from other devices on the CPU line - somewhat improving stability. 20A on a single 12v line = 240W of power for your CPU line alone, which seems like plenty of juice.

- It is true though that having all your juice on a single rail would allow you more power should you need it. AFAIK, there are some Tagan units that allow you to either "Split" the rails into 2, or "Combine" it into a single rail. Some OCZ units I believe, do share a certain amount of power between the two rails.

thanks eddy for the reply ..... but i can't decide about zebby or antec coz for 8k i am getting a 550w antec where for less than half i am getting a 520w zebby with almost similar configuration ...... and maybe 5k for a 640w :?

Well, checked up on DFI-Street, the 520W PSU is listed as a "Bang for the Buck" PSU. Of course, initially this PSU was retailing on Newegg for a bargain price of 40$. Currently prices have rocketed up to around 60$.

The key difference between this PSU and the Antec is that the Antec is more like all-out performance, this merely offers decent performance at a cheap price.

Though this one cost around 3.5k, i dont know how good these are:no: . If crazy thinks this one is good you can get this one. But is Zebby PSUs are good? How are their warranty? I always think of asking them, but man i forget everytime i go there and the guy over there doesn't know much about computers.

OT:There was a guy in zebby nzone who knows a lot better about computers, This particular guy will tell if the zebby products are not good, a very frank guy, he told me not to go for any of the zebby speakers and their LCD monitors, Too bad he left that place.

I have had only very bad experiences with them as fasr as service is concerned. Have been to their service center twice to replace a PSU and graphics card.

The PSU ATX connector was burned, but it was still working. They charged me Rs200 for replacing the connector alone, while the cost of new PSU was Rs350 :( All that they had to do was to remove the current one and solder the new connector.
THE BEST PART WAS IT WAS JUST 3 MONTHS OLD AND UNDER WARRANTY. That foolish owner of the place was arguing that he had to use the connector from a "brand new" PSU and he would simply have to throw away that "brand new" piece in the dustbin. Though he wouldnt give me the new PSU as a replacement. And he gave me bullcrap about the warranty not being applicable to burnt parts. What else is the warranty applicable for - aliens ruining your PSU?

The second issue was when i had to replace a FX5200 graphics card. Nothing was burnt but it would artifact very badly under stock speeds. Again they would give me BS about how they didnt even have computers to test on and they would have to send it to some other place to test it. They took 2 weeks and 3 visits to replace it with a REFURB that wasnt in great physical condition.

I personally hate those ppl and would never buy anything that says zebronics on it.

Raghunandan.

heh, to be honest what he said was correct. You dont get warranty on any burnt products. Be it CPU, mobo or graphic card. The only time they will even consider that is if thing blows on the same day you bought it while putting system together. That can be considered faulty or DOA.

And you are lucky you got your card in 2 weeks. I had to wait 3 weeks to get my AGP 6600GT replaced. And it was XFX. I am seriously thinking of buying that PSU for my 2nd system and also to use as a secondary psu while doing some overclocking experiments. It cant be worse than powersafe can it :P

Single rails may be more effective if the splitter (forgot the tech term for it) isn't efficient enough so u lose some power...

Say 40A 1 rail

Now 20 W * 2 rails - 38A (2 amps lost in the process of splitting it to 2 rails)

Switch got a 540 W, didn't he ? And Funky has the 640 ( or 620 W - Not sure ). Funky says that the volts are rock solid in the PSU. Think its the same with Switch's one too.
