So I've finally decided to go ahead with a long-pending upgrade and need your valuable inputs in this regard. I'm looking to buy the hardware components this Saturday and give my desktop PC a much needed boost!
A few years back, I had created a similar thread with specific criteria, resulting in the desktop rig I currently use. It has served me well, but I'm afraid it's time to move on to better things... :cool2:
Without further ado...
1. Q: What is your budget?
15K for now
2. Q: What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
1. CPU - AMD X2 3600 (1.9Ghz)
2. Motherboard - MSI K9AGM2-L
3. GPU - Sapphire ATI HD5670
4. RAM - Kingston 1GB DDR2.667 + 2GB DDR2.800
5. Monitor - Dell E228WFP (1680X1050)
6. SMPS - CM EP460
7. HDD - Seagate 250GB SATA
8. ODD - LG DVD-ReWriter
9. Speakers - Creative M2600
10. Case - Zebby Bijli v1.0
11. Logitech KB + Mouse
3. Q: Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)
1. GPU - Sapphire ATI HD5670
2. Monitor - Dell E228WFP
3. SMPS - CM EP460
4. HDD - Seagate 250GB SATA
5. ODD - LG DVD-ReWriter
6. Speakers - Creative M2600
4. Q: Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.
1. CPU - AMD (Equivalent to Corei5-520 or better!)
2. Motherboard - Mobo with USB3.0, decent OB-GFX, single PCI-E 2.X slot, well laid out, nothing too fancy (MSI, Gigabyte are most preferred, but open to other good brands)
3. RAM - 4GB DDR3 1033Mhz and above
4. Case - Good quality, well-ventilated, "dust-filters", smart design, in black.
(Decent warranty on all the above)
5. Q: Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component
Yes
6. Q: Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)
1. Chennai (Ritchie Street)
2. Open to online purchase - No
7. Q: Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market
No
8. Q: What is your intended use for this PC/hardware
1. Work (nothing too intensive)
2. Browsing
3. Desktop Processing
4. Movies
5. Download rig
6. Watching HD movies
7. Gaming (nothing too intensive)
8. Run VMWare maybe?
9. Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.
Yes, but I'll reason them out with your recommendations. The market in Chennai doesn't offer a whole of options either.
10. Q: If you will be playing games then which type of games will you be playing?
Not so intensive ones at 1680X1050 (High), others are Med / lesser res.
11. Q: What is your preferred monitor resolution for gaming and normal usage
1680X1050, for the most part.
12. Q: Are you looking to overclock?
Nope.
13. Q: Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
1. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (Primary)
2. Windows XP
I hope I've been descriptive with my requirements. Let's consider 15K as the budget to work with and tweak
that based on the inputs.
Some really knowledgeable peeps here and I look forward to seeing them in action. :hap2:
Thanks for reading.
Cheers,
