He was saying he has to convert all of his work to avi he want that to be fast

RAM : 2x Corsair 4GB DDRIII 1333MHz ~ 2.1k

GPU : afaik , geforce/radeon gfx cards suck at rendering .. so its better to get ur hands on a AMD firepro/ Nvidia Quadro card..!

Please suggest GPU & PSU as well can he can stretch his budget max to 20K only.

I checked Quadro series but found it expensive don't think that will fit in budget :(

Kindly suggest something which fits my bill :)
 
Cheap workstation cards suck.

For a cheap budget, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a FAST CPU + DECENT GPU.
 
In may what are u going do ? like modeling,animation or rendering...

I will suggest increase you budget and then upgrade....

Sad thing is he cannot stretch his budget.

He want Rendering to be fast

I dont know much about rendering and all but he was saying something like
"he can do all work on his pc right now but he has to convert his work to .avi every time he want that thing to be fast"
 
Tell him to stretch budget....
or else after buying he will regret that if had increase budget...
by way maya is used in creating 3d stuff not for turning his work into avi

This is really sparse for a Maya rig. Yes, it will render, but it may take days depending on the resolution and complexity of the scene. A decent workstation GPU is a must. It is quite amusing that a software worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs (or minimum Rs. 50k for the student version) is running on a system a fraction of that cost.

My friend have just starting his career he is learning & purchasing rig from his own savings no help from dad

once he earns he will be purchasing workstation class setup for sure

this rig is going to be like "One don't need Hayabusa to learn how to ride, Bicycle will serve purpose" just my thoughts

And yes he is using Demo/Trial Version :)

I see. It is just that you kept mentioning the purpose of the rig was "rendering". If it is just for learning I understand. My suggestion would be following gaganjain's list, except replace 550Ti with a Quadro 400, but that will be difficult to find in India. Also, go for a CX430 - no need for a 520W power supply. This rig will barely use 200W. Might want to consider a FX-4100. There's plenty of cheap AM3+ motherboards and Maya is very multi-threaded. Go for that only if it is cheaper than i3 2100 + H61 though.
 
Yea if he just starts learning...don't jump and get any rig...

u will never know wat he going to specialize once he finishes it...

and at the moment he must have started modeling.

Modeling

It ain't need a mamooth rig..as he is not gonna do complex models

in the early stages and most if it will be lowpoly...but when u get

into complex like character and all more ram will do the job..

Texturing

There u just do 70%of the work at PS..

except adding material and unwrapping uvs correcting it in

checkerbox and all...but mentalray material is a whole diff story though;)

Lighting.

Normal rig will work fine for basic lighting setup ...

IBI - Image based lighting / GI - global illumination

can be done in normal rig..might take some time to

render though ...but u wont be def not rendering whole scene in the learning stages:)

Rigging

Also normal setup will do

Rendering Animation and Dynamics

YOU neeed highend rig, again for complex works.

other wise normal rig will do just fine..might take few hours:)

So I rec u get some i3 rig or some second hand rig with 8gb it will do

just fine and later u can go for workstation for rendering...

u will get time for funding as well..

I saw comparison video of NVIDIA Quadro 400 VS GTX560ti and decided to go for Quadro 400 inquired in Prime and yes it's available :D

I have told him to get 8GB RAM, and as suggested by Sub i am getting Quadro 400.
Is it recommended to get i5 CPU?
What is the advantage?
if he get i3 right now can he upgrade in future without upgrading PSU, MOBO ?

Please recommend capable PSU ASAP cause we will mostly purchase RIG tomorrow itself.
 
PSU is just fine. i5 2400 has a TDP of 95W and Quadro 400 is 32W. No way this rig is getting anywhere near 400W or even 200W.

How is the Quadro FX 1800?

should we go for AMD FX 8-Core Black Edition FX-8150?
