Iam having 5year old Rig ok might be 6yr:ashamed: (which is still running fine) but I have been waiting(read:Begging) a change since long time back, but Dad didnt allow & he would say "PC is running fine,so y change it":@

But now the Rig though its running fine, but its falling apart in parts, fianlly pheww:P Thanks to the HDD crash my Dad realised my Rig has grown too old to handle the present S/W demands:ashamed:

So I have been alloted a Budget of 30K for the Upgrade, which only going to happen in March last week or Mostly April 1st week:@

So ever since I was alloted the 30k budget,I have been researching to get a good config under it and i have got a AMD Based PC Configuration in mind, along with Prices:D

Proc - AMD Phenom II X3 720BE ~= 8k

Mobo - Biostar TA790GX AMD Motherboard ~= 5.5k

RAM - 4GB Transcend PSeries ~= 2.2k

HDD - Seagate 500GB ~= 3k

Cabby - Zebronics Bijli ~= 1k

PSU - VIP/PowerSafe 500W Silver SMPS ~= 2k

LCD - Dell E1909W ~= 8k

======================================

Total ~= 29.7k:hap2:

Some of these were not my initial Choices, but had to back out after Budget started to exceed:( ,also I havent included a GFX card though I might add [HD 4670 - 5k] later on;) Following where the initial choices:P

Proc - AMD Phenom II X3 710 - 6.5-7K [Took the 1k Jump and decided for 720 as 710 might be released any time sooner:S ]

RAM - 4GB Gskill Pi Black/4GB Corsair XMS2 - 2.5-3K

Cabby

CoolerMaster Elite 334 - 2-2.5K [ this is on Top of my list but the Budget:( ]

iBall WorkHorse(With 400W SMPS) - 1.5-2k [If Budget Goes above, then I might have to get this or Bijli with SMPS:no: ]

PSU - CoolerMaster CM460 - 2.3-2.5K

I chose an AMD Rig since Phenom II was just released and it does sound great overall;)

and Me noway opposed to an Intel Setup,Hope to see some config for the same under my budget. My Needs are Occasional Gaming,Watching Movies and some PS or other programming:P

Ok the 1'st one is perfect :) I mean the one with Phenom II BE 720. Look if you don't overclock stick with 710...

Get few decent things.. I would recommend you to spend few bucks on better things... The 790 GX is a powerful graphics onboard make sure the MB northbridge don't over heat which will restrain you from doing OC..Doesn't matter if you don't OC>.

Now please spend some moolah in better cabby.. I would recommend Antec 300 for 3.~k .. Get a better PSU like Corsair VX 450 or CX 400

Rest is fine .. Go AMD PII :)

knoty, get a CX400 minimum , cabby its upto you. Bijli ain't that bad for its price.

oh and congrats ;)

Congrats knoughtyd:hap2:

and i think u shud go in for a VX450w a bit of future proofing..

and how about Samsung 2033SW?? wouldn't that be nice than the 19" Dell one?

advance congrats knoughtyd, very nice config indeed :D

me also agree with above recommendations to try to get a better PSU, rest are ok

S2033 SW has awkward resolution.. :P Might turn about to be not as good as other 19"

yes thats also true 16:10  a reason for friends to bully u... :ohyeah:

Proc - Intel E7400 ~= 6k

Mobo - Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L Motherboard ~= 3.2k

GPU - Powercolor/MSI HD4830 512MB ~= 5.5k (KMD)

RAM - 2x2GB Transcend P Series ~= 2.2k

HDD - Western Digital 640GB (Seagate only 3yrs warranty) ~= 3.5k

Cabby - Cooler Master Elite 330/331/332/333/334/335 ~= 2k

PSU - Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 460W SMPS ~= 2.2k

LCD - Samsung 2233SW ~= 11k

Total ~= 35.6k

try for 5.6k extra as this one is far better in my opinion

^^Lol what made you think E7400 can beat X3 BE :P

Anyways you can add graphics card in that AMD setup too .. Complete the Dragon :P

Get Intel man, why waste money when U r not gonna utilize, who cares abt onboard video n all, spend on GPU,

My Needs are Occasional Gaming,Watching Movies and some PS or other programming

Mobo : Gigabyte GA-P31-S3G 3k

Proccy : Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 6k

GPU: Palit HD 4670 512MB GDDR3 5k

RAM : Transcend 2x2GB 800MHz 2.4k

Hard Disk : Seagate 7200.12 500GB 3k

Monitor : Dell 19" LCD 7-8k~

PSU : Cooler Master 460W 2.4k

Cabinet: Zebronics Bijli 1.2k

Total - 31k

Udit's and Sidhupunjab's suggestions sound good , no not just because it's Intel a setup.

infact even the AMD suggestions look quiet interesting ..:)

i have no idea how the new Phenom's perform so cant say much .

but overall i would advice

dont spend to much on the proccy + mobo .(max 10-11k) Try and get a better GPU ,maybe a 4830 from KMD as Udit suggested.

here's a mix and match of Sidhu's and Udit's suggestions :P hehee.

Intel E7400 ~ 6k

Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L Motherboard ~ 3.2k

GPU - Powercolor/MSI HD4830 512MB ~ 5.5k (KMD)

RAM - 2x2GB Transcend Power chips S ~2.2k

Seagate 7200.12 500GB 3k

PSU : Cooler Master 460W 2.4k

Cabinet: Zebronics Bijli 1.2k

monitor -

if you are getting HD 4830 from KMD then get a decent 22" for 10-11k

or else if you get ATI 4670 then get a 19" DELL for 7-8k

depends on your requirements . how much, will you be gaming ?

knoty .. dude ur config is great .. just save some money on cabby, get a zebronics bizli, looks decent and has enough air cooling for your needs .And get a better power supply like corsair vx450; avoid vip and powersafe , rest all is good.try to stretch ur budget(2-3k more) a bit and get a 22" full hd moniter (samsung S2233SW) .

For ur requirements:

Proc - AMD Phenom II X3 710 ~= 7k

This would be just fine if u are not into overclocking...as this would perform very good even at stock speeds...Moreover u r not an enthusiast, so lets keep overclocking aside...

Mobo - Gigabyte 780G ~= 4.2k

I really don't understand why u need to go for the Biostar...It has onboard graphics which is anyday bad than a graphics card...so save money here and try to get the graphics card...

780G is just very good as well and the Gigabyte 780G one is especially a very good board...

RAM - 4GB Transcend PSeries ~= 2.2k

No changes in these coz there are RAMs for the masses...

HDD - Seagate 500GB ~= 3k

Well, this is the fastest 500GB in the general segment so go for it(7200.12)...

Cabby - Bijli 1k or get the Geforce series from Zebronics(1.8k)...I had one and the bundled PSU was good...
LCD - Samsung 2033SW...7.3k

Well, like the 2233SW scales very well, this will definitely do...And since u are an occasional gamer but watch movies, this should be a real treat and moreover it does not cost a bomb...And u gain an inch...

If u wanna go for 22", it would hurt since the pice difference is more than 3k atleast...

Graphics Card - ATI HD4670...Will fit in...

A good card for gaming and HD...

For HD4670, u don't need a really good PSU...

Its always good to have a good PSU but never the less for this config u can go with the Geforce series of cabby and the PSU would suffice...

No need to go for anything more than this card and the PSU in this budget..

Well, these were my suggestions....Hope u would like it...:P

This config will last u for quite a long time...Good luck with ur purchase...:hap2:

Please add this Phenom II 710 isn't a bad overclocker.. It can overclock as good as 720 BE .. the only part is how to do it.. The 710 has locked multiplier which means you have to do some trickier settings in order to OC it..

Yea.. I would suggest a solid 780 G like Gigabyte than a cheap 790 GX :)

First of all Thanks all for the Suggestions and HAPPY HOLI to everyone

Now Let Me make somethings clear:P

Budget: STRICTLY 30K [Dad says not a single penny more, otherwise Rig k Sapne sirf sapne reh jayenge
nono.gif
]

Requirements
: As said before Occasional Gaming,Watching Movies,Surfing the Net and some PS or other programming. Also Me not gona OC and make it hotter:P

Date of Purchase: After 22 March and before 1st April

Now regarding the RIG on how/why I chose them,

Proc - I had initially chosen Phenom II 710 with a round figure of 7K in mind but I asked Techshop, and he said cant say whether it will launched soon or not,so as a Backup put in Phenom II 720,if by the time of purchase 710 is available I will go for it:)

Mobo - Went for 790x since everywhere in TE i saw Phenom II was paired with it & termed best combo:P

Cabby - In every budget Recommendation thread, the Bijli was hot Favourite:P and for ~1K its awesome, but my first love was CoolerMaster Elite 334 but with a price of 2-2.4K it was out of my reach:ashamed:

Anyone has any clue about iBall WorkHorse??Looks good;)

PSU - Because of Budget constrains,I simply cannot go for CX400(3K+):( .Then my second choice was CoolerMaster CM460,but since 710 wasnt available so had to jump to 720 and so went CM460 and in came VIP 500w
dx.gif

LCD - Another budget Recommendation favourite,so chose this;) Can we get this model Lamington Road or have to order through Dell:huh: btwn have no clue about Samsung 2033SW,is it better than Dell model:S

GPU - Cant buy a GPU as of now, since Budget just shoots over, but this doesnt mean I wont buy later:P.Have HD 4670/some other card ,but thats sometime later:ashamed:

The 790GX + the Phenom should be a great combo. I've no idea abt AMD processors though I keep track of their recent chipsets. The boards based on 790GX seems to be priced surprisingly low and offer great value for the bundle! (esp the Jetway 790GX board!)

As for the cabinet, the iBall workhorse (the Powermac G5 enclosure imitation IINM) looks good but has a cheap finish. I'd suggest u to stick with the Bijli. Its a very good enclosure for ~1k (minus the PSU supplied along with it). Provision for 2 120mm fans in the front and the rear. Has decent headroom to take a recent GTX card.

I guess the Dell S2209W at ~10.5k from Amarbir's GO seems to be a good deal. :)
